sayaka mori joins us now with the world weather forecast. sayaka, it's feeling really chilly this morning. will it be like this for the rest of the day? >> it was really cool this morning. i wore a jacket on my way to work. the temperature was only 16 degrees as of 4:00 a.m. today. much colder in hokkaido. below freezing temperatures. frost advisories are in place. the reason is that we had clear conditions and less windy conditions. that led to overnight cooling. today will be the same story. we'll see clear skies throughout the day today. out west, this is a low pressure system producing very heavy snow and widespread showers that will be moving towards the korean peninsula. down towards the south, tropical storm gaemi made fall on saturday. it has been weakened and reached the sea. bringing in drenching rain in the southern half of myanmar and parts of thailand. now east there is a typhoon coming in. it's now a very extra strong typhoon. gusts of 108. it's going to strengthen into a strong typhoon by friday morning. we're not sure where th

sayaka mori joins us for that. sayaka, it seemed chillier this morning than yesterday morning. how will the day shape up? >> well, it was really cool this morning. but it should be warming up to 24 degrees during the daytime hours. looking at blue skies at this moment. showers are possible from late afternoon. get your umbrella handy. more heavy rain on the course from thursday as the systems are approaching from the continent. right now those symptoms are dumping snow showers in parts of northeastern china and thundershowers in the north korean peninsula. it will affect the northern half of japan on thursday. out west, dry across much of eastern china, but southwestern china is a different story. thundershowers i should say rain showers will continue throughout the day. but it's not going to be severe. but down towards the south, remnants are still hovering over. today the heaviest rain is found in the northern half of myanmar. out east we can see this pink showing up. typhoon praphoon starting to produce rough seas. over eastern taiwan from late tonight. waves could reach fou

here is meteorologist, sayaka mori with an update on the hurricane in the caribbean sea. >> hi there. hurricane sandy, battering the caribbean sea, producing rains and strong wind. in jamaica, mudslide, flooding occurred. two feel reportedly killed in haiti as well as the jamaica. now, sandy is due to intensify and will likely become a category ii hurricane and move through eastern cuba tonight. after that it could move through the bahamas into your friday and move east of the u.s. for the next several days. hurricane warnings posted in jamaica, and, as well as bahamas. in addition to strong wind, high surf, rough seas are going to be an ongoing issue that could cause coastal flooding. heavy rain is going to continue, we anticipating that the rainfall, 300 millimeters, for a wide area, with locally, 500 millimeters. so, a mudslide is also, going to be a great concern here. as for the u.s. bulk of heavy ran should stay over the walters. parts of florida will see heavy rain as well as rough seas conditions over the next few daysai tropical system over the philippines. this is the tropic

sayaka mori is standing by to tell us the latest on the typhoon. >> hi there. we've been keeping an eye on typhoon prapiroon situated 100 kilometers east of the philippines. prapiroon means god of rain. unlike the name, it's not going produce any heavy rain to any landmasses at least into the weekend. but it could certainly generate high waves and rough seas across the coast of northern luzon, eastern taiwan, and the sakashima islands from late wednesday. here's the projected path. it's going to move toward the west and veer back toward the east. so we are not sure where the system is going at this moment. we'll keep you posted on the storm's progress. as for the rest of east asia, nice, clear skies for much of japan today. we saw the coolest morning of the season in many locations, but temperatures will be rising to above seasonal or seasonal levels during the heat of the day across much of japan. well, out west, a ban of thundershowers and snow showers are moving toward the east over northeastern china. the korean peninsula will be affected from tomorrow. dow
