today schaefer pleaded guilty to murder charges as part of a plea deal. news 6 reporter erik c sandoval covered the shootings when it happened and was in court today. what kind of deal did he get? >> he didn't really get much of a deal at all. these were random drive-by shootings that paralyzed parts a lot of people were afraid to go to sleep at night because they were afraid they would get targeted. today the teenager, the teenager, who prosecutors say was the ring leader pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder. >> do you have any questions about the charges you're facing in these cases? >> no, your honor. >> the 18-year-old conrad schaefer could face two life prison sentences as part of his deal in court today. he pleaded guilty to the murder of a 17-year-old, gunned down while waiting for a bus at a bus stop. he also pleaded guilty to killing a 22-year-old man, a target of a home invasion where prosecutors say he was robbed of only $300 and shot dead. the family told us today the plea was welcome news. >> honestly, he knows he did it and he

today schaefer pleaded guilty to murder as part of a plea deal with prosecutors. news 6 reporter eric sandoval covered the shootings when they happened. he was also in court today. what do the families have to say about this? >> well, you know, with family members of victims in cases like these, they're usually not happy about plea deals. i found a very different story in this case. in this case they were actually very happy because this gunman could go to jail for the rest of his life and, keep in mind, this when this happened. so that is a very long time. >> are you disappointed that he pleaded guilty? >> oh, no, not at all. not at all. >> family members say what happened in court today was actually welcome news. investigators say a man was killed along with a 17-year-old as part of a shooting spree in osceola county in 2013 that lasted weeks. they say 15-year-old conrad schaefer spearheaded it with a his father was sentenced to four months in prison because of it. >> today his son came to court for a plea deal. >> how old are you, mr. schaefer? >> i'm 18. >> he
