>> reporter: well, scott, two u.s. officials now have told cbs news that the shooting suspect is dead. he's identified to us as a soldier named i've an lopez. in addition to the other three fatalities, sources say about one dozen people have been injured and wounded, and some of those seriously. the shooting happened late afternoon on the west side of the fort hood base, apparently near a medical brigade building and motor pool. we're told it's a spot heavily populated usually by soldiers. immediately the base was locked town. all the personnel were told to shelter in place. military police began responding to reports of an active shooter on the base. there were early unconfirmed report there may have been more than one gunman. because of those reports authorities have to do an exhaustive building-by-building search but a number of officials have told us they do not believe there is a second gunman involved. sources say this appears to be a soldier-on-soldier case of violence but they also say it's too toon soon to mak

>> that's right, scott. so blythe was of course a jpmorgan lifer announced plans to leave yesterday. this was not unanticipated given what had happened with the commodities unit which they're selling. i'm hear that mike cavanaugh who left last week as co-ceo of the investment bank, large subsidiary of jpmorgan, in the wake of that his sole head, successor, is working on a reorganization of the investment bank that will probably involve taking a list of direct reports there that amounts to about two dozen or so and making that a considerably smaller group, 10 or 15 people. the details being hammered out as we speak. something they would like to deal with, scott, i think before they go out to the public with their results. >> some people would look at what's going on with jpmorgan and say over the last 18 months or so if you look at the names you talked about, you throw in cavanaugh, others, i could go on and on. there are probably a handful more of well respected and topper forming names that have walked out

>> reporter: scott, the underwater search for the wreckage continues. the u.s. navy's robotic submarine "the blue fin 21" has covered more than 80% of its search area but has not found anything yet. australian officials say if the "blue fin" turns up nothing they plan on bringing in more powerful sonar "that can search deeper beneath the surface of the indian ocean. >> pelley: longest jetliner mystery in history. transportation correspondent, jeff pegues, thank you. there is no history tonight about the fate of hundreds of high school students who were trapped in a ferry that capsized and sank last week off south korea. 159 bodies have been recovered, but families are still waiting for at least 145 more. seth doane is there. >> reporter: families of the missing wait for that announcement, which only confirms what they already know. it's been eight days since the ferry sank off the south korean coast. when a body is found in the wreckage, anything that can help identify the person is posted on slips of paper. "a female with pink nail polish who had a root canal."

hey, sheila. >> hey there, scott. so sexy, but look, they are up today. one of the few groups in the green. they've been a winning trade all year. in fact, utilities are the top-performing s&p sector so far, up nearly 10% for the year. if you compare that to the overall loss for s&p, all of a sudden, utilities are looking a little sexy. in fact, just this week, the sector had the highest sector -- so who are some of the top utility performers year to date? number one is exelon, up nearly 30%. more all up in the double digits. not surprising we are seeing these gains in utilities. these stocks are pretty much the opposite of high-flying momentum stocks. utilities underperformed last year, and if you think the rates are going to continue to be low, maybe avoid some of the volatility, analysts, of course, say utilities could be a solid trade. also don't forget one of the best parts about utilities, the juicy cash flow. in fact more than 80% of utilities offer dividends of more than 3%, so something to consider, scott. >>
