scott budman is outside the courtroom in san francisco where survivors offered some dramatic testimony today, scott. >> reporter: yeah, we expected a sentencing this afternoon. intaed at the last minute we got a continuance that will last until thursday. the judge did not leave much room for debate. he said he's likely to hit pg&e with a maximum fine of $3 million and a change in how pg&e advertises to the public. but before postponing today's ruling he heard testimony from the victims of the deadly blast, including two who lost their husband,son and mother. >> and i want some conclusions so i can walk my daughter down the aisle with a good conscience know that i've done the best by me husband greg, and is saying what i think all of the victims would have wanted me to say to the judge. >> reporter: among the possible punishments, pg&e ads in the future may have to mention the convicti conviction. but some of the details have to be worked out. the judge says all parties involved will be back here in court on thursday morning. reporting live in san francisco, scott budman, nbc bay area n

scott budman got a first-hand look. he joins us live from the consumer electronic show in las vegas. scott may not come back. this is his favorite time of the year. m how are you doing? >> reporter: i'm doing well. it's like a big candy store. we talk a lot about the technology that's being pushed into our cars but you formally wouldn't think of the glass that's in your smartphone. but it is being tested in cars and today we got a first look. we've seen several new future ris ik cars unveiled this year but this one is a gorilla, as in gorilla glass, the same thing covering your smartphone. >> the glass we're using as a similar formulation that what we would use on our cell phones. >> reporter: and much of our cars will come loaded with smart sensors, the corning gorilla glass you see on the window and the cockpit will be safer, lighter and more flexible than what you're looking through now. >> you're seeing a combination of a lot of the things that we're working with manufacturers on today. >> reporter: a blend of the g

reporting live from milpitas, scott budman, nbc bay area news. >>> let's go to the banks of the russian river where jodi hernandez has been covering the flooding there for the past few days. how is it holding up out there, jodi? >> reporter: terry, things are definitely looking a lot better in guerneville. you can see a lot of water out on the roads and in neighborhoods, but it is going down. we're standing here on old river road and yesterday when we were out here the water level was much, much higher. in fact, it has gone down quite a bit since we pulled up this afternoon. i'll tell you, folks here are more than ready to start drying out. >> it's deep. >> reporter: for the first time in five days, wendy e chavarria was able to go out without a boat. the waters finally receded enough for her to walk around. >> it always feels good when it stops raining, that's the thing. when it stops raining, everything will be okay. it will be dirty, but you have to work through it. >> the russian river crested yesterday and now the water levels of the river and nearby creeks are finally going down.

scott budman saw it all happen. scott, everyone okay? >> reporter: yes, everyone is oklahoma. it's made coyote creek larger. someone was caught on the other end and needed rescuing. a 56-year-old man was found have been stranded on one side of the creek. rescue crews came into the creek with boat because the man was unable to cross the creek because of the recent storms. now thanks to efforts of the fire crews he was brought by boat safely across the creek. he checked out. he said he was very appreciative. he seems to be okay. now, the crews tell us that they've actually been doing this quite a bit this week not only because of fast moving creeks but also people who drive over large bodies of water. they tell us the best advice is if you're thinking about crossing a large body of water weather by foot or on car, realize days and days of heavy rains has made bodies of waters deeper and faster moving and that's exactly what we saw here in coyote creek today. reporting live in milpitas, scott butman, nbc bay area news. >> thanks, scott. >>> we're coming up on a weekend, if you're

scott budman at the yahoo! headquarters in sunnyvale. we've been watching the demise of yahoo! for years. what happens now? >> reporter: there are still a couple of big question marks. here tes the thing, yahoo! as planned want to go through with a $4.8 billion acquisition via verizon. if that happens, marissa mire will stay at yahoo! and go to verizon. they will spin out another company that holds some stock ho holdings and that sort of thing and marissa mire will step down from the board of directors from that company. ma r marissa maier will remain in yahoo!. if the deal goes through she'll step down from the board of directors of the company that holds the stock holdings, among them, stock in alibaba. the big thing that happens here, yahoo! releases the news tonight. we have not heard from verizon. all this happens in the $4.8 billion deal goes through. as yaw may remember, we've talked about verizon perhaps having some second thoughts. but at this point marissa maier stays at yahoo!. we'll keep you posted. >>> well walking out in the name of house care. more than 100 medic
