scott mcgrew, they're talking video. >> that's the talk. facebook bought instagram about a year ago, as we take a look at the newsroom this morning. instagram, of course, is a very popular service. let's check in with marla tellez to find out more. good morning, marla. >> reporter: good morning. in about 4 1/2 hours we'll know if the rumor mill is cranking out the truth about the potential announcement that facebook is set to announce a new video sharing service. as you just mentioned, all the tech experts including our own scott mcgrew says it would be offered through instagram which scott mentioned facebook bought last year for $1 billion. instagram not doing bad at all these days with more than 100 million users. if you don't know, instagram is a photo sharing app that allows users the option of posting their photos to facebook. the thought is instagram will allow users to create short videos and if you so choose, post those to your facebook page. here is the thing, though, you can already post videos to facebook, just not instagram vide

scott mcgrew would have his inside coming up in a moment.art things off with christie smith, live at a verizon store in milpitas. she has a look at the new controversial report. >>> this court order is literally marked top secret. that is the very first line. it directs verizon to hand over all calling records on an ongoing daily basis. today, the white house defended the need to gather information about u.s. citizens calling habits saying it is a critical tool in protecting the nation from terrorist threats. an obama administration official did not confirm a newspaper report in britain's guardian that the national security agency is collecting the phone records of millions of verizon customers. at the request of the fbi, the order covers each number dialed by all customers, location, duration and the frequency of the calls but not the contents, not what was said. the order relies on the business records provision under the patriot act. verizon lists about 121 million customers, most of them wireless. the order was actually granted on april

scott mcgrew joins us live in our newsroom with details from that new report. scott?ing, jon and marla. apple meets with the city of cupertino often. they go over plans for this new campus. one of the studies apple turned over to the city, the company plans to hire 7,400 more workers in the next few years. that would be a 50% increase over its current workforce. the idea of that new campus was to consolidate all of those workers spread out over cupertino into one spot. because they can't fit them in the current campus at infinite loop. every office building has an apple logo outside of it as you drive through. so apple wants to bring them all together. the problem with what we're learning is that if apple does hire that many people, as you said, marla, the campus will not be big enough to hold them all. this is not a legal document they've submitted. apple isn't committed to hiring that many people. so, it could be the company giving a high estimate. you have to take it as a signal to investors. a lot of them are nervous about apple's future. they're saying, look, not
