. >> and i'm scott mcgrew. the ebola virus has gotten worldwide attention. now there is another confirmed case of a different virus. many bay area parents even more worried about. santa clara county has its first case of enterovirus. we confirmed this morning a child was diagnosed with this virus. nbc bay area's bob redell live at santa clara county. bob, how is this child? >> reporter: in good condition, which is good news. good morning to you, scott. the santa clara public health department confirming to us this morning, yes, a person under the age of 18, wouldn't give the exact age, did contract the enterovirus d-68. if you're not familiar, this is a virus that can attack the respiratory system and in some cases can kill the patient. as i mentioned in this case, this child was treated in a hospital, eventually released and is in good condition. because of privacy laws, that's all the public health department will say about this case. this person is the sixth person in the bay area to test positive for the virus. alameda county has seen two cases, this vir

scott mcgrew to explain. governments give companies tax breaks all the time. >> san francisco has a twitter tax break. the european union says what ireland did for apple was way beyond a suspension of property tax april complicated accusation but the meat of the idea is that ireland and apple worked together to come up with a number first, and taxes later. we want to make x-amount of dollars or euros, what tax level do we need. apple and ireland deny this accusation. the european report was released tuesday and relies heavily on an american investigation into apple's tax practices. back in may of last year. the public questioning of apple's tim cook was fairly tame, the senate permanent subcommittee investigations report was much more direct, saying apple uses ireland to avoid american taxes. so to summarize, american government thinks apple uses ireland to avoid taxes. european union doesn't care about american taxes but thinks ireland charges too little compared to other countries. >>> check the markets. ka

"the new york times" has a recent editorial that doesn't come to say it's a bubble that will pop but it is that way. the worry is the burp rate, what tech companies spend and they point to the expense of san francisco as one of the biggest problems. both in the cost of office space that they point out and the cost of labor as well. now, the times doesn't panic and points out all in all evaluations are lower than they were during the dot-com boom and we tend to be profitable as companies, but there's a good lesson here. peter gele says it's a huge mistake to try to predict what's going to happen now based on your memory of what happened in the late '90s. what was true doesn't make it true in the future. the stock market has been incredibly volatile but hopefully it is better today. courtney reagan is here with the latest. >> reporter: so far anything can happen with the opening bell sounding and closing, but the futures are higher after stocks faded on monday falling for a third straig

thank you for joining us, i'm scott mcgrew. >> and the crash happened shortly after 8:00 this morning near intersection of mcclellan and bubb on the other side of 101. nbc bay area is live at the scene with the latest breaking details. good morning. >> good morning, chris. the teenage boy was headed westbound on mcclellan just before bubb road. and deputies say a big truck described as a dump truck was headed in the same direction and struck and killed a boy right over there beyond that white he railroad crossing there is. it happened around 8:00 a.m. so the boy may have been headed to school. there are four schools in the area, lincoln elementary, john f. kennedy middle school, and deanza college. investigators are at schools right now working with school officials trying to see who did not show up for classes today. hopefully through that process, they'll know the identity of the boy soon to call his parents. this is a well-traveled area. so when the accident happened, there were plenty of witnesses. the struck and killed the boy but h& kept going. those witnesses followed the truck
