jacqueline: requests for interviews from congressman scott perry and jim jordan, two people who were involved with the operation to overturn the results of the election and were in touch with president trump january 6 were made a few weeks ago, but they have rebuffed the requests, at least scott perry has. will the committee move forward with subpoenas to get them to comply with the investigation? rep. kinzinger: i don't necessarily have an update. now that we are back from the holidays there will probably be news out of that in the next week, as a guess. i think it is important there is a lot of nuance in what the committee can do to subpoena a congressman. it is a constitutional question. i am of the firm belief that being a member of congress does not protect you from an inquiry of congress. we have an ethics committee that looks into potential ethics violations every day. we have to police ourselves on that. in my mind, we need this information. we need it pretty ricky tick. if members of congress knew or had an inkling of what was going to happen, that is important both from an

scott perry has said outright that he will not cooperate with those demands. jim jordan has suggested that he is unlikely to comply with those voluntary demands. if both refuse to comply, the investigation has to decide whether they're going to issue compulsory subpoenas in response. that's never been done before to a sitting member of congress, let alone two of them. we're not sure if they will do that for scott perry or jim jordan or for other potentially implicated members of congress as well. we're wait ongoing that as well. >>> "the new york times" reports today that the january 6th investigation is also considering issuing subpoenas to trump himself and to his vice president mike pence. so we're waiting to know about that too. and, of course, if those subpoenas do come down from the investigation, it will be interesting to see how long they will be held up in court once trump and pence inevitably defy those subpoenas. and on top of all of that, of course, the supreme court of the united states is now mulling whether it's going to take up trump's appeal.

for scott perry, the second was the before mentioned congressman jim jordan from ohio, and at the houseublican leader himself. so many people involved in the investigation, even those who have just said no, even others who have been subpoenaed have invoked their fifth amendment right against self incrimination. they have otherwise just refused subpoenas, refused to provide information. so it's interesting to see how it will develop with these republican members of congress to. we did learn today that one of the 4000 people, roughly, who served as white house press secretary under trump, she was press secretary at the week trump administration when everything went pear shaped. she spoke both for the campaign and for the white house after the 2020 election. she personally made multiple false claims about the election to the american people. we learned today that miss mcenany testified. it was behind closed doors, so we don't know what was said. but we do know that she showed up to testify. but here is something that i am watching more and more closely each day. by the end of this week, it

and we know so far republican congressman jim jordan and scott perry you see there, they're not complying with the january 6th committee's request to give voluntary testimony about that day and not having yet been subpoenaed, and their interactions with then-president trump. and the question i have is, why? what do they have to hide? jordan is the ranking member of the house judiciary committee. and he's already said multiple times he's got nothing, nothing to hide. so why not cooperate? and the committee just moved up the totem pole right on up to the top republican minority leader, kevin mccarthy. this is significant. you have to understand, right, we're talking about the number of witnesses who have already been before this committee. we know of course the relationship that mccarthy had with then-president trump. and frankly, perhaps to this day. and they want to know about those conversations with him before and during and even after the insurrection. and they are citing that mccarthy himself has already acknowledged speaking directly with the former president, not just some day, but
