. -- sf city.e're kind of creating a new chamber of commerce with our technology companies, both established and new ones. what i want to do is that contest. and in bringing on jane as the nation's first chief innovation officer located in the mayor's office, i want to tell everyone that as a 22-year bureaucrat, me, that i want to say to everybody else in the city, get off of dependence on the state government. get off of our false expectations that the federal government is going to save us. yes, we have got some great programs, but they are all in this kind of funky status for the cannot really help our cities. it is really going to be were the cities are across the country and across the state where we are going to innovate our ways to solutions. whether it is helping our homeless, a building housing for everybody, getting the services we need out there, getting good communications, getting better transportation. the cities there were the convergence of all these things happen. and in realizing

i get to increase these new relationships like sf city and and they're up and do marathons in the city to share the best ideas. to me, i think that is the best way our city moves forward. i am not going to just stand on the laurels of great accomplishments. i know we're one of the top five cities in the country that are great investments for clean tech, biotech. we have some 30 capital adventure -- capital venture companies in the city that have filled their portfolios with clan tech and biotech investments. that is great. we need to do more. we wanted to do more. we have to innovate our solutions. and that is why i have asked for sf city, through all of the companies that my good friend has been investing in and new companies, to encourage them to come into the city, established incubators, and its alert the city forward on better biotech, better glass that can keep warmth and still use energy in the right way, better lighting, even higher standards for our commercial buildings. even though we have had a great run, this last year i sign a commercial building organism, and we have grea

in fact, we created sf city, the citizens' initiative for innovation and technology -- technology and innovation. it is our partnership with technology companies to create job postings and training programs that offer our young and mid-career people an opportunity to get trained in this technology skills that our companies are looking forward to. within one month of announcing that, we have over 100 technology companies that have joined in sf citi. thank you very much for those of you that have done that. we have stronger policy analysis for looking at legislation between the mayor's office and the board of supervisors that will gauge the impact on jobs and for small businesses. we have signaled very strongly that we need to have businesses at our site to evaluate all of the legislation that we do so that we can understand its impact on business. that is the level of commitment that i have made in working with the board of supervisors. i think we have signaled a new way of looking at things. finally, we have invested in the foundations of our city that ensure all of us can live here.

planning organizations that selected san francisco as the winner based primarily on the sf park program and the city's pavement to parks program. sitting up on the award podium, and seeing some of the stuff that they are doing, it was quite an honor for us, for san francisco to have achieved this award. it reflects a lot of the good work of this board, the planning commission, and the mayor's office. yesterday, crests hayashi and i attended the land use committee for the first requested quarterly updates on taxi issues. we covered our intent to establish a baseline from which we can do some quantitative reporting such as electronic trip data and other performance measures. we also gave a preview of the consultant we engaged to do the best practice analysis, the convenience and necessity study, improving ramp service, dispatching improvements, driver training. it was a good discussion, relatively little public comment, but continued interest from members of the board of supervisors to see the taxi service in san francisco. there has been a lot of discussion and e-mail traffic regarding parking proposal
