sfmta wants to shut down this station for repairs. they say leaking water is beginning to cause some damage at the central subway tunnel. this closure will affect four muni metro stations along the busy commercial corridor to the caltrain station in soma that includes union square market station, as well as your yerba buena moscone center station, and then the fourth and brannan station for the next 17 days. >> because of that water intrusion. we do have to implement this closure in order to have crews get in there. they're going to fill in any voids with grout. they're going to add sealant to our waterproofing. and just make sure that we address and remedy the water situation. so again this is a. >> and sfmta says riders should consider taking bus 30 or 45 that actually runs parallel service to the central subway. the transit agency says it will also have ambassadors helping direct passengers to busses at stations impacted by the closure. and transit officials say the goal is to get this reopened and ready to go by march 14th. live i

this is video from the sfmta working group, made up of agency leaders, staff, and users. they're hosting several meetings to brainstorm ideas for filling the gap, including a hope that the state would chip in to help ease the pain. but a local or regional tax ballot measure next year is the most likely scenario. we would really like a lot of the discussion to focus on the large ballot measures, because the small ballot measures require almost as much work as the large measures, but they are small. the overall problem for the sfmta is that ridership and other revenue streams haven't returned to pre-pandemic levels. and for the city, the vacancy in office, lease revenue, and the uncertainty of federal funding means projections of $1 billion overall city deficit by 2027. if the sfmta isn't able to raise more revenue through their preferred method, which is a new tax, they're currently floating ideas for other revenue streams. the sfmta working group is also exploring the possibilities of extendingg parking meter times o as late as 10 p.m. across the city, and adding sunday p

sfmta is installing speed cameras at 33 locations across the city last year. there were 42 people killed in traffic crashes in san francisco. that was the worst in a decade. and so the speed cameras can't really get on the ground soon enough. this map shows where the cameras will be with at least 2 in each district and 7 in the south of market neighborhood lindsay with walk sf says they recently visited one of the locations on ala many boulevard where they measure drivers going. 48 miles per hour in a 30 zone. all of the locations make a ton of sense. if you look at how the city chose these its base on very high crash rates, high-speed you know, they went out and tested all of these. the cameras will snap photos of rear license plates of vehicles driving 11 miles per hour or more over the posted speed limit. then the registered owner will receive a citation in the mail ranging from 50 to $500 depending on the speed. lindsey says the best way to avoid a fine is to slow down. there's going to be plenty of signs around that show where these by speed cameras are.
