opportunity it united kingdom thank you for having me so happen to be here our firmer as represented sfpuc for a number of years i think commissioner moran was gm when we started i believe it has been awhile a privilege to represent sfpuc you know it is interesting work it feels like it's important work and sometimes we have fun doing it as well our main job as julia mentioned to look for the interests of sfpuc in sacramento whether it is before the elective it is your or the governor's office or the like so basically looking for opportunity and looking out for challenges that's really what we do over the years we've become identified with sfpuc and the hallways of the capital in sacramento sometimes those challenges are brought to us by colleagues and others who associate us with sfpuc there are dozens of issues a year we've worked on as mentioned 40 bills last year and many issues going along with those over the years we've developed you know a certain amount of expertise that are important we've lobbied them and really the benefit of working with fantastic staff up here that's taught us

on broad we wanted to get a sense of their priorities and connections with the authority that the sfpuc has and what that looked like in action last year, we brought 39 pieflgz legislation all passed $80 million professional service contract for the bio digester project both the local and underground projects were approved and now to execute the enter solar project so your authorities that have independently executed those and tracks over hundred piece of protections that are of interest to the enterprises in the puc and responded to legislation that has an impact on the agency we often having get requests from the members of the board we work to prepare furors hearing to make sure that the questions that the board members have supported through that process for example last year, we worked with formal board president david chiu with his water bottle ordinance and served as liaisons around prelims of that legislation this year we've successfully got approval over 50 items on the board power is the hot topic this year that includes the issuance of the revenue bonds and authorization of t

and it is flying out there face and not also well-thought-out and opportunities that provides for sfpuc but a lot of the legislation provides a lot of risks and is of concern so i'll get into in a minute working hard to make sure you're not in potential problems sometimes on our own and other water agencies that have similar concerns i thought i'd like give a few examples of issues we've worked on in 2014 and working on now that might be helping out in 2014 one of the big successful had to do with kicker wood hydro electric you have a up the hill related to renewable portfolio stated eligibility those there are 3 units below 40 megawatts they should be considered eligible renewals under state law you get credit and the puc power enterprise submitted the applications to the california migration for whatever reason it was clear that they should be codified those 3 units and for whatever reason the c e.c. took if one or two years and dragged its feet and propagated guidelines it seem to retroactively deny the legislation at the end of last year in a budget trailer bill the type of legislat
