i didn't have any money to go, and in my first semester i was cast in a shakespeare play which got mets scholarship, which allowed me to continue to go to school. and that's when i discovered my artistic self, and my writing and acting. i actually graduated at the top of my class: one out of 7,800. i was picked for this "usa today academic team" thing. well, the only reason i say that is to say that put a huge amount of pressure on me to move forward in academia, when i wanted to write stories and act. my peers and everybody, my professors, expected me to be the vice president of something or go on to this conventional career path and it was so seductive, and it was so appealing. and as soon as i almost took these jobs something in my gut said, "this is not right, this is not what you were brought here to do." but i was still conflicted as to what to do with the writing and acting. so summer came and went. i got the post-graduation blues. the job offers went away. i was no longer the big guy on campus. they just forgot about me. started getting really depressed... hitting rock bottom,
