actually play longer at the afterparty than he did the actual concert. 45 years ago, i was invited by shaunobinson to an nba all-star game, to a party at prince's house. get there around 1:00 and then about 2:30, all of a sudden i see people start plugging up instruments and people start coming out, and literally they put on a full concert for the next three hours. we didn't leave there until almost 6:00. and so this was a pure genius, who could play all the instruments and the output was amazing. one of the things that we have to understand, why he was frustrated with warner brothers is because prince was like the old-school musicians. you go back to the '40s and '50s, those artists put out four, five, six albums a year, versus the traditional system, you do one a year or 18 months or every two years. this is somebody who had tremendous output and was frustrated by the limitations of a traditional music system. so to think about that type of music, when he left warner brothers, he left 700 songs in the vault. and i remember they put out one of those albums called "call the vault," now this
