we begin with meteorologist sheena parveen, and sheena, at least it won't be snowing for the morning commute. right? >> yeah, that's right. what we have right now on radar is going to move through pretty quickly but we are already getting some reports of snowflakes falling through some of our pennsylvania suburbs including ardmore. i wouldn't be surprised if some areas in chester county were seeing this as well. even parts of delaware county. northern delaware we'll be watching very closely, too. this is mostly very light, so maybe some flurries falling or some light snowfall overnight tonight. at best, i think we would see about a coating to less than an inch, but it will be gone for the morning commute. the big story tomorrow is going to be the wind and the cold. we have feels-like temperatures to start off your day tomorrow in the single digits. by tomorrow night, into very early friday, we could see some areas below zero for a feels-like temperature. this is the coldest air we've seen so far and this is dangerous cold, too. friday morning near single digits but by friday afternoo

we begin with sheena. any neighborhoods still seeing snow? >> the snow is really moving out for the poconos. they were the last ones to see the snow and the first ones to see the snow. it's moved out of the area. now we're just left with lighter rainfall. the snow did just recently end and some of our snowfall totals from the poconos, our highest amount in mount pocono at 5 inches of snow. that's that higher elevation snow that tends to accumulate more. if you are around the long pond area, in parts of the poconos, mostly monroe county, 3.5 inches there. straussburg, 3.1 inches. lehigh over an inch of snow. in the philadelphia area we're still dealing with the light rain from philadelphia to trenton. that will be leaving soon. light rain just scattered through south jersey, parts of delaware. there is an end in sight, and we should be dryer for the commute tomorrow. temperatures, though, still in the 40 lz through most of the area. many of our pennsylvania suburbs in the lehigh valley in the 30s. 37 degrees leesport, and 36 degrees if you are

let's take a look at what's going to be happening from here on through the night from meteorologist sheena parveen. >> as glenn mentioned, a cold rain across the area, and in the poconos, we're seeing the snow in the poconos, but for the rest of the area, we will be dealing with the rain, heavy at times for the evening rush. here's the hour by hour, parts of newcastle county, along the i-95 corridor from wilmington through philadelphia up to trenton, our pennsylvania suburbs especially. so many areas that have seen the heavy rain, even reports of sleet, that should be continuing as we go through the rest of tonight. that's 6:00 p.m. snow continues, by 7:00 p.m. now through the poconos, accumulations of maybe two to four inches, especially in those higher elevations, and the rain and precip continues, we could even see some snow showers in the upper elevations of lehigh valley, like some of those ski resorts as you get closer to th. and we'll be watching like glenn mentioned those temperatures closely. by 9:30, still confined way north and west of philadelphia, but starting to taper off a b

sheena grite'-ens was robbed monday evening in the parking lot of a coffee shop in st. louis. she says she was in her car when the robbers shoved a gun in her face, and demanded her cell the teens were arrested shortly after the robbery. police say they were driving a stolen car. governor-elect grite'-ens has had a security detail with him since the election. now his wife will be protected, as well. a mannequin challenge video featuring several real guns got a lot of views on the internet. and some of those views-- apparently came from police the video was posted on facebook last month.. and shows a staged shoot out. the video was eventually reported to police-- and officers quickly obtained a search warrant. swat teams raided a home and found weapons, ammunition, and marijuana. of weapons and drug charges. authorities expect to make one or two more arrests. amazon has unveiled what it hopes will be the grocery store of the future. the retail giant is revealing a brick and mortar location where the last thing you see -- is a checkout register. smart technology recognizes the a

. >>> for details on the weather let's focus on the timing from nbc meteorologist sheena parveen. >> the timing brings it in late tomorrow night and into saturday morning. early saturday snow will be falling, but we have a first alert out because of the weather heading our way, briefly in the is suburbs and the lehigh valley. it's going to start on friday lasting through saturday morning. accumulating snow at the start, a brief, icy mix. if you have to get on the road saturday, you might want to wait until all this passes. by that time we'll be changing over to rain for a good portion of the area. now we go into 2:00 a.m. saturday, snow through the poconos, berks county and parts of the lehigh valley. anything falling at that point will be snow because it will be so cold. rain for south jersey and delaware, any wintry mix and snow will be changing over in philadelphia between about 6:00 and 7:00 a.m. at that point we would still see an icy mix for philadelphia, parts of the pennsylvania suburbs and the lehigh valley. more of a change in the lehigh valley to rain closer to 10:00 a.m.

and that's when the precipitation starts approaching and we'll go to meteorologist sheena parveen for more on how that's going to affect us. >> with the temperatures so cold on friday, anything falling is going to be snow, as we go into friday night and early saturday morning, so we have a first alert out because of that, for philadelphia, the pennsylvania suburbs and the lehigh valley. a first alert for snow and a wintry mix. it's going to start 11:00 p.m. friday, it's going to go through the overnight hours and through saturday morning. what we expect first is accumulating snow and that's going to change over to a brief icy mix early saturday morning and then going to change over to snow. but we do expect slippery roads, if you need to be out in this, i would wait until it changes over to rain, and that will be shortly after sun rise. we mentioned a little bit of snow for new jersey and delaware, some areas could wake up to a coating or more. friday we stay dry and then friday night, 11:30 p.m. that will move in overnight. and quickly for south jersey and delaware, now we're looking

glenn and sheena, keeping a close eye on the weather in your neighborhood. >> we begin with nbc10 chief meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz. >> i'll be talking about the cold first, because it's been a while since we have seen cold temperatures like this, our bodies have not been used to it so it feels really cold. the arctic air, that surged in from the west has arrived and it's to stay with us all work before easing up a little bit on monday. we still have 15 to 20-mile-per-hour winds in some parts of the area, but we're seeing some places see the wind diminishing a little bit. and that is helping, the feels like temperature down to 21 in coatesville, 25 in allentown, trenton and vineland. and as the wind dies down a little bit tonight we're going to feel those temperatures not quite as much as we did. the temperatures go slowly down but the wind going slowly down as well. and by 11:00 tonight, feels like 20 in philadelphia, teens in the suburbs. going to feel cold plus we have moisture on the way. >> and we do have a first alert out for part of the area because of that come sund

sheena parveen has more on that. >> make sure you have the umbrella if you're headed out the rest of the night. the rain-snow mix will increase in the lehigh valley, and the snow will increase in the poconos. they could see a few inches of snow before the night is over. heavy rain still across the area, most of it confined to the philadelphia area, the major interstates so not a good commute. so you see the snow continuing for the poconos, we could see a brief period of snowfall for parts of the lehigh valley. snow continues for the poconos, rain continues elsewhere. around 9:00 p.m., most of the rain already moving away by 9:00 p.m. things starting to taper down the area, but we could see a bit of a wintry mix. closer to 10:30, more of this starting to clear away, we'll see improvements later on tonight, but really the best time where we expect the most improvements will be closer to about midnight where the snow will taper down in the poconos. coming up glenn will talk more about a big arctic blast by the end of the week and what it means for your weekend. >> make sure you know the
