i'm not going to go into heavy detail, i want to take you down here into the sierra madre. i was following routes all over for the house of rain, trying to figure out where the anastazi went when they left house of rain. many of them made the modern pueblos but other groups continued south. i followed pottery trails down into the sierra madre where my wife and two others went out and we came to these cliff dwellings. it seemed like every single cave we looked into had cliff dwellings. and this wasn't a place with trails. this wasn't a known location. many of these sites were pristine. they were just -- it looked as if people had just left suddenly, just like all the stories in here. little cliff dwellings, little granaries, little sites falling apart. larger sites. this site went actually 5 layers deep into this cave. very particular to this region were these shaped storage rooms. this one is about 10 feet high. often they would have door stones sealing them on the top. and they were of all kinds of shapes and sizes, but they specific to that area. that's the smallest one w

so this is october through september the aggravateded sierra run off. more in the winter period, and less in the spring and summer by a bit. this is a recent flood. not a big one. but in may of 05, maybe some of you remember this event. it was raining up to about 9 thousand feet in,yosim ite park this is the valley and this is the storm that did it. a very warm and moist system. we had the valley flooded that the rain fall on average was just one inch but it was raining up to 9 thousand feet and above. frank back there has a bunch of snow collectors up there and his snow sensors were - rain was going through and to some extent it was melting but largely the story was we were getting more run off immediately and we got this sort of minor flood. you can imagine if this was a may system what if it was a february system where instead of two days of precipitation we had something like 1986 or 1987 flood where we had very high snow levels. that's what we're very concerned about and that leads us to the levy problem in california. next. the bay delta here. and

we had some sierra thunderstorms that passed three days off and on across the sierra but it is currently dry. we have the fire warning just outside of lake tahoe. so if you're heading out there we have low humidity and also warmer temperatures. you want to be cautious. meanwhile down here towards the dodgers and the giants going at it tonight on nbc we have temperatures in the upper 60s. a light wind out of the west at six miles per hour and currently clear conditions. so a little bit better than probably they would be dealing with here in san francisco. because we do have the fog with us. 61 degrees right now. and while those winds are out of the northwest, which typically warms us up in the bay area this time of the year, we're seeing these cooler than average temperatures because we also have some cooler air in the upper levels. so that's what helps keep temperatures down. only 62 in san mateo right now. 76 in sunnyvale. 82 livermore. 72 san jose. 69 currently in napa. the fog will continue with us through tonight and also for tomorrow morning and with that cold air aloft it'll mean p
