this area of low pressure responsible for hundreds of lightning strike in the sierra nevada. heavy rain from 1 to 3 inches in the sierra and even some higher elevation snow. here's look at live doppler 7 hd and you will see just south of lake tahoe area we are already seeing some snow fall there there is a winter storm warning in effect for the southern sierra nevada above 8,000 feet. they could get 5 to 10 inches of snow there winter weather advisory for the lake tahoe area heading that tomorrow morning. could see few inches of snow and you see the green around mount hamilton. that's the possibility some moisture may rotate back to the mountains locally and we may see isolated shower or 2 not just tomorrow but again a possibility on wednesday. slight chance but we keep it in the forecast. tonight cool pocket where it is going to remain mainly clear. mid upper 40's around nap a-santa rosa, clover dale down to 49 degrees. low to mid 50's elsewhere across the bay area. we have some cloud cover tonight as the low continues to rotate to our east. south bay temperatures 70 in cuper

that's what we had yesterday with the low which is now moving up into the sierra nevada and into nevada. blue canyon by the way reporting some rain and temperatures in the 40s. some more thundershower activity northeast california and also along the spine of the sierra and into nevada. the wrap around though is giving the north bay a lot of low clouds especially sonoma county. you can see the low clouds right there. marin county sonoma county about half of marin county, parts of napa. solid. cool to mild today. sun and clouds. really no warmer air aloft which means it won't warm up that much at the surface. 60s, 70s and mid-70s at best. 55 san francisco. sunny, breezy, 64 for a high today. 47 mt. tamalpais actually one degree cooler than yesterday at this time. tomorrow i expect that to jump up to about 52, 56. that will be the sign of high pressure building in. today it's just in between the low and high. temperatures on the cool side. 51 stanford and castro valley. south of market and also north mission at 55 degrees. 50 reno, lake tahoe 41. 49 eureka. 56 fresno and 58 palm springs. a

we even have some rain up to our north, and across the sierra nevadas. we are still sitting with some 70s in some of the warmer spots, even 80s close to concord and livermore. next shot, there is san jose, look at the clouds off in the distance. some of those clouds are predicting showers and thunderstorms closer to the sierra nevadas. the temperatures in san jose downtown, 75. 82 in livermore, concord at 83. napa 68 and look at santa rosa still sitting at 78. 56 degrees. go down the peninsula, a couple 60s, to mid-70s. oakland at 64. as we go through tomorrow, it's going to be cooler, this is what i was talking about. all those showers and thunderstorms, all the way up the spine of the tier getting quite a bit of showers and thunderstorms. you head up to yosemite, and all the way up into lake tahoe and reno. this is within the past hour, those showers and thunderstorms, the lightning strikes are all coming in pretty heavy, we have showers and thunderstorms here. we'll watch for that, closer to the north, close to mendocino county and lake county. santa

addition to sea level rise, the climate change is expected to result to more precipitation in the sierra nevada falling as rain, less as snow and an earlier snow melt and this will reduce the spring and summer runoff which will allow salinity levels and salt water to extend about 9 miles farther into the delta than it does now. now, i don't think i need to remind you that a lot of folks in the central valley and southern california get their water through the delta. and they expect that it will be fresh rather than salty. now that i've completely depressed you, let me give you the good news. even though i showed you a map of san francisco international airport under water in 2100, it won't happen. san francisco won't become the venice of the west. silicon valley won't become the loss city of atlantis, and salt water won't come out the taps in southern california. why? because however much it costs we can't afford to let this happen. so we will build levies around the airports, we will build a seawall around the san francisco waterfront. flood control is already being incorporated into the plann

in the sierra nevada we've been seeing snow. looking what's happening there is lightning strikes in nevada coming this way. potential for thunderstorms across south lake tahoe area. this will continue to see scattered snow showers above 8,000 feet he'd feet he'dheading into tonight and tomorrow. numbers here into the bay area into 50s at coastline. 60s and 70s inland. a nice-looking day today. warmer in most locations. chance of showers tomorrow is just in time for fleet week festivities. here is the area of low pressure there is moisture just coming back around on the back side of the low. this is where we're seeing showers low starts to kick out of here heading towards tomorrow. and this may be responsible for triggering a chance of showers there in the north bay and south bay. and so keep this in mind heading into tomorrow. could be a few drops brief and lit. and there is upper 50s to low 50s there. low to mid-50s across the bay area. tomorrow afternoon, into the south bay a little bit cooler. 73 in campbell. partly cloudy sk

but things shifting gears in the high sierra nevadas, cool air pumped in from the system. starting to open the door. high pressure moved out of the way. skies, slight chance of showers, on and off the better part of the day. a lot of clouds, not a lot of rain, buy big difference. >> temperatures looking like this. in morgan hill, 65 mill pete as, 64 in san mateo, may be optimistic. east bay temperatures are running up into the 60s, maybe some 70s well inland into places like pittsburgh and antioch and brentwood. looking to low to mid-60, not as much cloud cover, this one headed a little bit further to the south. san francisco showers, south port, temperature-wise mainly 60s and a couple of 70s as we head in towards the afternoon, as we look toward the next few days we'll see some cloud making their way across the skies. lingering chance of showers come monday morning, heading out of town, bye tuesday they kick back in and kick in, then maybe some fog and low cloud creeping back in wednesday and thursday. here is what is even more interesting, by next weekend, yeah, looks l
