first off take a look at that area of low pressure to the east of the sierra. that is creating that unstable air mass. instability in the afternoon is going to lead to likely afternoon thundershowers for the sierras. keep that in mind if you are taking mom up there. back here we have got high pressure north flow. that north flow clears out the clouds, keeps us nice and warm. today is going to be a beautiful day and very warm. however, a shift in the forecast for your mother's day. look at futurecast. it tells the story here. starting off clear and mild today. this is 6 a.m. saturday. as we advance on though into 6 a.m. sunday we see the marine layer beef up. the onshore flow increases ushering some of those coastal clouds inland and temperatures will drop because of this. tomorrow likely going to be cloudy and cool for your mother's day. here we are for mother's day morning. big changes in the works. and that area of low pressure, well, high pressure diminishing offshore. low pressure going to keep it cool ushering in that marine cooled air. clear, calm today.

doppler radar is showing a few more showers over the sierra and even a couple of snowflakes over the highest peaks. on the satellite you can see the low pressure center moving (pam) tonight, federal aviation investigators have released video from an s-f-o tower camera ... showing a dangerous situation from last july... you might remember, the july incident at s-f-o, when an air canada plane almost landed on the wrong spot... in this video you can see the planes' lights.... as it comes in for a landing, before the pilots realize the mistake.. the video has just been released by the national transportation safety board... we will show it to you again ... the plane comes dangerously close to a taxi- way ... where there were four fully loaded jets... the air canada airliner then suddenly swoops upward... when the pilots see they are 'not' looking at the correct runway. meantime, the f-a-a has determined, three of five close calls in the last 16- months at s-f-o .... have been because of pilot error. that includes incidents where planes lined up for the wrong runways or taxi-ways.
