talk to washington examiner columnist kristen soltis anderson.g to you. >> good morning. steve: if this election were held a year ago it would have been a blue tsunami, right? >> for sure. a year ago we had numbers showing things like the tax bill, being very unpopular, had you independents breaking very heavily against the g.o.p. over the last year, the president's job approval has gotten much better. that generic ballot number who people want to see in control of congress has gotten down into the single digits. it still favors democrats but not nearly by the margins that it did a year ago. things are looking a little better for republicans than they would have back when the blue wave was first predicted. steve: sure. that's when everybody was talking about it now maybe it's not such a big wave as it was a year ago because the president is more popular. the tax cut people are getting their head around, they understand that as well. ultimately, for the republicans, so many of them decided about a year ago to retire or get out of the house and tha
