soma. our letters and positions are supported by four homeowners associations who collectively represent over 500 residents of central soma. these neighbors are very concerned about this really once in a generation opportunity to remake a neighborhood of the city. and i want to emphasize that we do not oppose development. we actually support the midrise alternative that was supported by staff at least until 2013, and until 2016, because it maintains the neighborhood as a family friendly livable, walkable neighborhood, and most importantly maintains a jobs-housing balance. everyone knows san franciscans need more housing, and we support that. but this plan doesn't deliver. what it delivers is more jobs. 63,000 more jobs, but only 14,000 more housing units. in other words, four times more jobs than housing. therefore, it exacerbates the jobs-housing imbalance that we already suffer. there will be even more employees chasing fewer housing units in terms of proportion which means it drives up h

it would define the central soma hsd geography as all parcels within the central soma s.u.d., which is that same boundary of the area plan, and then, it will add some local eligibility criteria so we can tailor the hsd to our local context. and finally, it'll specifically a design, review, approval and enforcement processes. so the first main criteria that our local ordinance will add is to limit the size of projects able to participate in the hsd and receive ministerial approval. so as currently drafted, projects with a height over 160 feet would not be eligible for ministerial approval, so they would still be required to go through our project kind of standard review and entitle project. an exception is 100% affordable project, so that type of project of any height would be potentially eligible to be approved for ministerial approval if they meet all criteria. and the soma district. that was around 2016 and 17. we came with a plan introducing a mid block break that connected the fulsome neighbors to the harrison neighbors and presented a design. we worked on the modern type of building that you see there on the lower right, didn't seem to reflect the neighborhood. the building should be more in context with the warehouse and the industrial style of soma, so introduced stone based masonry and some large format openings, more appropriate of a warehouse style building. the plan featured here, the yellow shows units. the blue are ground level commercial spaces with accessory residential and the red represent common areas. the mid block break is 30 feet wide and it connects these two neighborhoods and all these people, which are all right now disparate and unconnected and we feel our project with the mid block break is going to serve to connect all these different neighbors and new neighbors. this shows design features. this is the entrance on harrison to the mid block break. so it's very wide, w

soma has deep river access. it has access to montgomery and the rail lines to the east. realize to the west. distanceso a short from the cahaba river valley coal and iron fields so we had an almost inexhaustible supply of coal and iron. we also had woodlands supplying timber for ships. we also had agricultural areas that was essentially part of the bread basket of the confederacy nearby so selma had many positives going for it so it was moved to selma and shortly after that an existing foundry in selma, able to secure contracts with the new government to produce heavy cannon, iron plating and munitions. and that foundry would later develop in 1863 into a joint navy-army venture and eventually just a navy venture which would become known as the selma naval gun foundry and ordnance works. at that time it gave selma the focal point of manufacturing as well as distribution. the naval gun foundry was actually located on the site where we are today. we're on the side of the selma dallas county museum of history and archives. at this site would have been found multiple building

kitchen appliances and new recreational program materials for the gene friend recreation center at soma unit to ordinance number 90-7. this ordinance was passed in april, 2017, and it amends the downtown support special use district to authorize a monetary contribution for future improvements to and maintenance of victoria park and other existing underutilized parks in district 6 as well as public recreation programs to occur in these parks. as we heard in the general manager's report, we are full speed into summer, and so as such, the recreation and park department staff and the friends of gene friend recreation center are eager to use these funds to make upgrades to the rec center's kitchen. new appliances and additional maintenance services from the recreation parks yard will help rec center staff and the friends serve the community this summer. especially the hundreds of children who rely on the free food program during the summer. this is a critical time since schools are closed. many children don't have access to the free and reduced lunch program. in addition to the appliances, w
