that is for sonoma county, at this point. sonoma county would have already experienced the heavier band of this but this is now moving across the city and the peninsula and the east bay. as the hours tick by over the last three or four hours, the national weather service has issued a series of smaller advisories. that does include the city and parts of the east bay and the peninsula, as well. if you got to hit the road in the next few hours, these rain rates associated with this system are enough, now, that it is already overwhelming gutters across the bay and low-lying intersections. plan on encountering some street flooding . always use your best judgment and turnaround . if you look at where we are now, that is that hose of the atmospheric river pointed at the heart of the bay and it is going to take its time. if we push this forward , we have got to get through that entire hose as it works its way south. that takes us to new and by noon, it has primarily made it down to the south bay. it finally clears the south bay by th

this cold front right now is situated right up in sonoma county. you can see pockets of heavy rainfall in upper elevations of napa and then especially up in the lake and mendocino counties. look at that low elevation snow fall up in the coastal range is just to our north above ukiah. right now it is wet on highway 101 up in marine sonoma and napa counties where we're seeing most of our activity still at this point having yet to come down except for a couple of sprinkles in san francisco and in the east bay hills. that's all you've got. so for sprinkles in these areas, it's light rainfall on up 101, from mill valley eventually to petaluma santa rosa pockets of heavier rain. as i mentioned, mostly right along that sonoma and napa county line say holding in the midst of some of our heavier stuff right now, all this energy is moving to the south and east, though, and as it does so more of us further south and east in the bay will start to see that rain working swear direction, focusing on the snowfall for a minute. look at this. this is low elevation s

sonoma county has also opened overnight warming shelters. they are located at st paul's episcopal church in healdsburg, the beverly wilson center at the petaluma fairgrounds, the veterans memorial building in sonoma and one for 18 to 24 year olds at the social advocates for youth dream center in santa rosa . there are also warming shelters opened this week in santa clara county. our chief meteorologist, bill martin, is here now and bill. there is real concern for those people who are unsheltered in these really frigid temperatures. that's absolutely right, you know, and with the increase in the homeless or the housed in the bay area. think about all those people, all those thousands of people in the case of san francisco that are not getting shelter. good uh, adequate shelter tonight when we've got another freeze warning in effect , and another frost advisory, even for san francisco frost advisory. these are the highest from today. right so tomorrow we're going to be just about the same. so no big changes there. the story for us is how cold

also up to a sonoma county.d to it looks like another patch just develop there and alameda county, i believe, just popping up there. as you notice as we're speaking now, storm tracker for shows this in motion. look at that other little package out to sea. that will be striking along the peninsula. santa cruz mountains that up sloping factor hughes. he tends to drain out more rain out of the clouds a little bit here. so expect some heavy rain your way in the next baby hour to 2 or so. when tracker we've been seeing some winds in the south bay a little bit and the east and peninsula, the wind advisory is all over the place going on for the next couple of hours. that will expire action. some parts of expiring as we speak. now and then elsewhere should clear out by about 10. but we will be looking at some winds actually being a little offshore later on we'll keep it in there at 4 o'clock by by that point, it will be mostly east bay and out of the south bay. and it will be tapering off as we get into the evening hour

going to focus on the north bay because we've had a couple of strikes of lightning, both in marine in sonoma counties. zoom in on this spot right here. and you can actually see that we do have this heavy pocket of rain sitting just west of novato. this is resulting in a lot of rain in a short period of time as well as some cloud to ground lightning up in the north bay. this is what we're going to start to see for the rest of the morning. is these pockets of heavy rain starting to reduce a little convection, which does build thunderstorm. so watch for that. don't be surprised if you hear a few rolls of thunder. also some heavy rain right around pacifica right now. the showers are all moving inland. and you're also seeing some of that right along the from crockett, the layover, martinez in benicia and up into the mountains just above oakland, a pocket there, widespread moderate rainfall stretching from san jose to morgan hill. most of this moisture plume is advancing southward, but still plenty of peripheral bands that are making their way into the north of that better still impacting the bay
