last night two boats slammed into one another, just south of the curtis bay area not far from the u.s. coast guard station. linda so is live at the scene with what some are saying about the area where the crash happened. >> reporter: we're live here. people who know the area well say they are not surprised at what happened last night. investigators want to know how it happened. this was 6:00 yesterday evening. investigators say the coast guard had to rescue john martins and his 13-year-old daughter after their boat slammed into another boat. the force of the crash flipped over the martins' boat and caused the other one to go out of control. that's when one witness jumped on board to stop it but the driver died. witnesses say they are not surprised the crash happened considering how shallow the water is where the two creeks meet. >> it's pretty dangerous. they should probably put a speed limit there. i'm on a jet ski, i see people almost collide. it's about three feet deep right there where they hit. >> reporter: we're told the victim and father and daughter who had to be rescued all k

south of the bay area you have very dry conditions. in santa marie wa county, you wt have much improvement. we will see better chance of scattered showers farther to the west and much farther to the east. we are keeping an eye on tropical storm ana. this is expected to become a strong tropical storm. we have got a lot of concern over it we just mentioned. another area of concern that we have is that second area we are watching, the one a little bit farther out in the atlantic. this next one, which could be named bill in the coming days is one that is going to have us really concerned as we get to the middle of the week, possibly becoming a much stronger storm, maybe even a category 2 hurricane as we get to 8:00 a.m. with winds of 105 miles an hour. from the atlantic, we are seeing things begin to wake up in terms of the tropics. on the west coast, we have been talking about the fires. a lot of things on both sides of the country could get very active in terms of climate and weather, certainly, something that bears watching. let's send

scattered thunderstorms to the south of baltimore will push itself toward the bay. not anticipating this to become severe. most of the activity will start to fall apart. you can see these individual cells mainly because of the heat and humidity. the heat is still with us in some locations. 76 adam dwi. 82 in cambridge and ocean city. we hit 85 of of bwi. the record, the century mark set back in 2006, stays safe. a scattered showers here or there. when the sun sets, the scattered showers will start to move out. temperatures are on the mild side with increasing clouds. tomorrow is a different story as we watch these showers and cloud cover move our way. the cold front is getting ready to sweep through the region tomorrow. if you have anything to be done outside, you have a few hours to do it today. tomorrow will be on the soggy side. we're still in this pattern. we get a break and then the rain system moves through. between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., that is the best chance for rain through baltimore and central maryland. we are heading to the eastern shore until 5:00
