upper 70s for the south bay. here is an update on hurricane michael, now it is a category 2 hurricane. while you were sleeping this strengthened over those very warm gulf waters and if you know someone in the florida panhandle or if you have travel plans, you want to make sure you keep updated on this. now wind speeds at 100 miles per hour. it's moving to the north-northwest at about 12 miles per hour, with a forward speed over the next couple of days it is expected to strengthen and possibly make landfall late wednesday into early thursday, and then move quickly off towards the east. so we'll be watching that. this could make a lot of big headlines as the storm surge will be the main threat. bringing it back home slightly cooler temperatures by tomorrow and warming up, look at the weekend forecast, inland valleys reaching into the upper 80s. yes, this is mid-october, and it's going to be very warm and dry. san francisco sees those temperatures mostly in the 60s. mike, you were checking in on that crash in san jo

as we look at the forecast, south bay, east bay aren't going to get much out of this. we will see this targeting the coastal areas. san francisco and the north bay. as we look at the future-cast, it does show we will have a slight chance of rain, mostly late tonight and tomorrow for the south bay and east bay. we will be watching out. rainfall totals, it looks like most of us will get a quarter of an inch or less. as we look at parts of the east bay and the south bay, our rain chances do continue through tomorrow, highs in the mid- to upper-70s. as the rain clears out, humidity drops. thursday will be a beautiful day. highs in the low 70s. we will warm up in time for the weekend. for san francisco the rain tapers off by thursday. heading over to meek that rain is rainy at the toll plaza. >> it is the bay bridgel drople volume build and also remember once you get to the san francisco side of the bridge, fremont street, you have the restrictions over there, the closure underneath that transbay transit center continues. the changes to developments and the repairs they're

south bay moves nicely. everywhere else around the south bay is moving nicely. northbound so101, we just got confirmation all lanes have cleared at tully. a smooth flow of traffic should be restored. we see the build from the rest of the south bay. the other issue is the clouds. the fog right here, the san mateo bridge from hayward, we're looking at the foreground, the flat section. we have more company. when you notice you can't see the high rise, so that's an issue. patchy fog throughout the tri-valley and north bay as well. so far, chp has not reported any problems. >>> let's take a look at the weekend weather. >> there's a lot of festivals, going to the pumpkin patches and celebrations going on. on friday in alameda, there's a halloween festival. it will be in the low 70s at 3:00. a beautiful afternoon. very comfortable weather. mostly clear skies as we head into the evening. on saturday it will be in the low 80s for the inland valleys. bay reaching into the mid-70s and the coast will be comfortable at 70 degrees. it will be a nice beach weekend at least for

and a few light showers near sunnyvale across the south bay. so this is the wider picture here. and we looped this so going back about 6 hours and last night, we had some thunderstorms across the north bay with all of those lightning strikes over santa rosa. so you might have seen and heard it. they had some heavy downpours in the north bay, picking up a lot of rain across the north bay within the last 48 hours. temperatures in the low to mid- 60s, a mild start to the day, with humidity. so a few more isolated showers this morning, scattered showers especially across the south bay and for interior locations in inland spots and then partly to mostly cloudy skies for most of us and humid for today. so let's talk about our rainfall amounts. picking up as much as 2 inches of rain in san rafael. about an inch and a quarter for santa rosa there. and .36" in napa. .19" in san francisco with this weather system here. so there's that area of low pressure that gets closer to us and that will push inland to our south and then to our north. and that's why the best chance for showers will be
