last few days of rain has hit the north bay and still, it's walloping a big punch in that area right now. but there's more to come for the east bay and the south bay. let's go to kron four's lezla gooden who caught up with some people who are getting ready for their reign. >> bay area residents are continuing to prepare for the atmospheric river storm that has made its way to parts of the area on wednesday. some places were pounded with rain. and others like contra costa county are holding their breath and preparing for their turn to face the storm concerned. we're just continuing to do our normal maintenance, which is clearing storm drains, catch basins, roadside ditches monitoring and maintaining our flood control channels and keeping our sandbag station stocked for our customers and residents. the county has several sandbag locations that are available. 24 7 for residents full list of locations can be found here like control channels. we clear our storm drains are catch basins. what we're really doing is going out and just making sure that those are staying free of debris and are clogged up in case the rains. and when the rains do come. >>

bay may have a bit of a break. tomorrow it begins to push back to the south, along with some colder air, and it's going to sweep across the bay areamorrow morning and then stall out over the south bay. so that's when we'll start to really rack up those rainfall totals for today. there could be another half inch of rainfall for santa rosa on northward. much less farther south. and then tomorrow, once again, that's when we start to see spots like san jose getting at least a half inch of rainfall, about the same in livermore. and additional rainfall in the north bay by saturday, we're catching a bit of a break, and in total we may see another 2 to 3in of rainfall and then we are looking at a break for part of the weekend. but a new atmospheric river arrives late sunday into monday, and that's going to keep it unsettled, at least through wednesday. it looks like wednesday if you're planning on traveling for thanksgiving, the rain will start to taper off then and we are all dry beyond this 7-day forecast. and mike, you're still concerned about the bay bridge? yeah. both directions. the direction getting into the city that's westbound.

south bay. this has just slammed most of the bay area today. rainfall rates coming down so hard. it was nearly impossible for you to see when you were out there driving in some parts of the bay area. so the first thing i want to get out to you tonight, just be very careful here for some isolated flooding on the roadways. our drainage system is just having a hard time keeping up with this. with those heavy downpours, you'll see those areas in yellow and orange. orange. that's some of the strongest rain that we're tracking. so we still do have two flash flood warnings. this one here in san francisco and san mateo likely will be expiring in the next couple of minutes, as the heaviest rain is moving to the south. but we still have one here in alameda and contra costa counties around berkeley and oakland until 6:00 tonight. due to those heavy rainfall rates. so let's put a track on this. and you can see that heavy rain that's over oakland that's going to continue off into moraga, lafayette also walnut creek through 534 tonight. so be very very careful out there on 24. also on 680 off

south bay. here's the progression of what happens later on this morning. we will still see some light showers for the north bay, but comparatively quiet to areas further southards mid afternoon. and we should actually be looking at a pretty dry finish the day tomorrow. a few isolated showers hanging on during our overnight hours in predawn hours could see some very brief, but pockets of heavy rainfall for parts of the bay area. as we move into tomorrow morning. after that, we see things calming down and for the rest of the forecast after that leading into thanksgiving, we're actually looking at a solid break from the rain. today's rainfall mostly around a quarter of an inch. if not lighter than that up into the north bay. so manageable totals, nothing to stormy this year does see another very snowy day, mammoth lakes. in fact, never 17 inches of snowfall on the way for you. this is the big exception to that calmer forecast leading to thanksgiving. if you are heading up i-80 or highway 50 do note we still do have winter storm warnings up there until wednesday morning. so still very active in the sierra winds have calmed down as compared to where we were last
