really dense fog in the south county as well.n looking at dublin, we can see a little bit of some low visibility there in the distance as you're driving on 580 and we're going to be mostly cloudy up until about 10:00 when the sun starts to peek out and temperatures warming up today headed for the mid 60s. it will feel like spring this week, so we'll talk about that in a few minutes. and mike, we're waiting to get to the bay bridge. yeah a lot of folks are waiting. some folks may have taken off last week. yeah. whoa. look at this slow drive getting down the berkeley curve over toward the bay bridge. that's the wait to get to the wait, folks. once you're at the toll plaza, of course it's full there. slow starting back at el cerrito, now across the richmond bridge. look at 24 off of 680. so right above where it says moraga, coming into that area off of the walnut creek interchange, we're seeing some lower speeds now. we seeing some recovery at the bottom of your screen. south 680 towards sunol. an earlier crash looks like it's to th

heavy rain, and then some light to moderate rain for san jose, but it has really picked up for the south county from morgan hill to gilroy and moving farther south. as we head toward 8:00, we can see that there will be some breaks in the activity with all of this rain, and then maybe even some rainbows and sunshine for a little while as we still get the off and on showers continue into the afternoon as well as the evening, but for the evening commute, it won't be nearly as bad as what we're seeing for the morning commute, and there still will be a chance of showers in the forecast through early tomorrow. but if you have some friday evening plans, some weekend plans, all of the rain will be out of here. we've already gotten a couple of inches of rainfall pretty widespread, with an additional inch and a half possible for the north bay to the inland east bay, but the highest rainfall totals will be over the santa cruz mountains with that elevated landslide threat. that's also where we have a flash flood warning for the lighter shade of green there, and then a pretty widespread flood watch that was

through friday with a lot of upper 60s from the north bay to the east bay, and even low 70s for the south county on friday. and i think we'll see more 70 for the weekend. if you're checking out the forecast at the bottom of the screen. meanwhile, we're talking about warm air here and very cold temperatures. i mean, bitterly cold moving through much of the midwest and to the south, where these are the high temperatures in some spots, staying in the single digits and dipping below zero during the overnight. and so we're still seeing this very cold air, which will continue there. and we're once again on the other side of that, looking at some above normal temperatures after last week's rain, we wanted to check in on the reservoirs and see how they're doing. well, we are looking much better, mainly for the south bay reservoirs that were running pretty low. and now with nearly 8 or 9in of rainfall at the uvas canyon, we are seeing it almost to normal at this point. and then across northern california, on average, for our four largest reservoirs, they're at about 81% of capacity. and the sierra snowpa

by wednesday, we're seeing some upper 70s for the south bay to the south county, and for the peninsula to the east bay. we're in the low 70s, right around 73 degrees and 75 for santa rosa with san francisco in the upper 60s. so as we take a look at what's ahead for the next ten days in san jose, it will be in the 70s, throughout friday into much of the workweek. but then the weekend, the temperatures start to drop as we get more clouds moving in and a chance of rain on sunday. next week could be a little soggy and much cooler. so let's talk about what's ahead. all the storm systems we've seen recently have been weakening as they approach the bay area, but that may not be the case going into the weekend. with the cooler weather coming in, we may see som scscatteredhowers starting on sunday, as well as some sierra snow and then a bigger system behind that that could be moving in for the beginning of next week. so we're going to enjoy the sunshine, the warmer weather, and also that's going to cause a lot of the flowers to bloom out there over the next few days. as we go toward the end of

alameda county has not issued a comment at this time. a new housing community opening in the south bay to help move more unhoused families off the streets. san francisco or san jose, i should say, partnered with nonprofit lifemoves to build home key brannan lane near edenvale gardens regional park at monterey road. it has more than 200 units, including two dozen units specifically designed for families. the city plans to use it in conjunction with the clearing of nearby encampments. 540 this morning, as we take a live look out in san jose, meteorologist kari hall is tracking those temperatures, and we do have some rain scattered across the bay area this morning. yeah, and it's been very light, so it's not going to have a huge impact on your day. windshield wipers. really not helping out the lawn too much. but we are looking at a few hundredths of an inch of rainfall today in parts of the north bay where we are tracking it over stormranger with north, with marin county to sonoma county to napa. seeing that rain kind of hit or miss around the area. also in san francisco, extending ov

we have some 70 on the map for the south county.olar plunge of air. really arctic air, but it feels so cold with some of the high temperatures in the teens and single digits across the midwest. speaking of cold, we've seen a big boost in the sierra snowpack where now we are close to our normal amount. after getting the rain and snow over last week into the weekend for the bay area, it's going to warm up and check out that weekend forecast. so many outdoor events going on. it's going to be nice to enjoy that with some much milder temperatures. mike, you were saying there was a bus involved in a crash? yeah, not at the bay bridge. i just wanted to show folks that it is now filled for all lanes. but the 880 overcrossing looks great over here. this crash, westbound 80 around el portal, reports that it involves an ac transit bus with passengers. no injuries reported there. shifting over to another bus and then still got a bus to clear from the area. everything else pretty standard for your build. back to you. thanks so much, mike. well h

the highest rainfall totals to be over the santa cruz mountains, and that may also push into the south countyh some heavier rain. but because the ground is so saturated in the north bay, we may also see some of the impacts there as well. so looking at the rainfall totals once again pretty uniform from the north bay to the south bay. but notice how spots like ben lomond can get over four inches of rainfall, and that could flow down into some of the south bay lakes as well as the reservoirs. and for the sierra, a couple of feet of snow, possibly up to four feet in some areas. a lot of heavy snow over a short span. and then it does dry out for the weekend. saturday for all of those outdoor activities is looking good, but it will stay mostly cloudy. mike, you're starting to see a bit of a commute. yeah, just like we should. we should see a little more car car volume here at the bay bridge toll plaza. too early for those metering lights. another maybe 15 or 20 minutes here. and the approaches are looking great through the maze. no delays throughout contra costa county. the north bay, the first rig

across the bay area headed for the low to mid 70, even upper 70s for the south bay down to the south county about the same on thursday, only coming down a few degrees. looking ahead for morgan hill, it's going to be warm throughout the week, but then the weekend the temperatures drop off. so we better enjoy this little taste of spring because winter is coming back next week and highs will be in the 50s, along with some rounds of rain coming in. we've seen some pretty dry weather, but things will change sunday as well as next week, with the series of rain chances coming in. doesn't look like any significant storms, but we will have a much more of a cooldown as well as higher rain chances for next week, so we'll be watching out for that. mike, you're saying that now the commute is building. of course we have the build up and we have the fill in at the bay bridge toll plaza. all lanes are full at the toll plaza and a slower drive across. there's fog. registered chp warns about that across most of our bridges you see on this map. slowing in the north bay. a lot of slowing with the crashes on th

we'll see that in the south county, as well as the south bay and up to about 64, in martinez, as wellermore and 62 in napa tomorrow afternoon on wednesday we will see some more clouds and a slight chance of rain in the north bay, but most of the rest of the bay area will kind of miss out on any wet weather. so here's a look at our hour by hour forecast. once again, dry today and tomorrow. but then take a look at this quick round of rain that's moving through between 9 to 10:00 on wednesday morning, moving into san francisco as well as parts of the east bay. but this system really just falls apart before it makes it into the south bay. so we're looking a parts of the bay area, seeing some very brief showers moving through. after that, we're going to be warming up. we talked about it feeling a little bit more like spring. and in brentwood we go from highs and low to mid 60s to 70 for the weekend. so what are you planning to do? you can already start on this monday morning to make plans, as we are going to have some really nice weather coming our way, although we could use a little bit o

our models showing the highest rainfall totals will actually be in the south bay, as well as the south countys. but still looking at some significant rainfall in the north bay that's already had all of their yearly rainfall to date. and so we don't need another two inches. but this will help out some of the reservoirs that across the state are, on average, running about 84% of capacity for today. we do still need a lot of that water to hit the south bay. our reservoirs are running at about 50% or below, and we are going to get that rainfall coming in before the weekend. so here's a look at our 7-day forecast, showing that after all of that activity, at least for the weekend, saturday is looking good with highs in the low 60s. there may be some more rain coming in late on sunday, but then drying out. if you have the day off on president's day, it's looking good. and mike, you're still focused on three crashes. yeah, two of them are on this map right here. one north of the benecia bridge. one lane is blocked. single car involved, but more slowing coming down opposite direction because of the di

the highway runs from gilroy south into san benito county. last october, a911 dispatcher was killed in a head on collision on the highway. officials say that they are working with caltrans to add safety k-rails to divide the oncoming traffic. the part of highway 25 running through san benito county has those rails, but the santa clara county portion does not. >> i keep saying to them, you know, no matter what the study says, we need to lean toward yes, on putting up those barriers, because every logical person knows that if you put barriers up, it's going to prevent, potentially prevent, the loss of life. >> long-term officials say caltrans is working on a project to replace an 11 mile stretch of the two lane highway with a four lane expressway. construction could begin on that about five years from now. san francisco is completed traffic and street upgrades to support the great highway's transition into a public park. the work was done to improve traffic flow on the city's west side for residents and visitors to the area. the project include
