now how it's shifts into south jersey and delaware. we'll be watching these temperatures but most of south jersey and delaware will be above freezing. 5:00 a.m. tomorrow a chance some of this could approach the i-95 corridor still, temperatures right around freezing so again, something to watch closely because then that would be freezing on the roads. 2:00 in the afternoon the rain moves out, temperatures around 40, more melting occurring, then later tomorrow night we're back down in the 20s, with more freezing occurring. now, we are still going to be chilly as we go through the weekend. then we see the jet stream move to the north, that's where we get the pattern change coming. just in time for the end of the weekend and early next week. temperatures will start to near 50 degrees again so even more melting across the area. tonight scattered rain showers, a chance of a mix very late tonight, temperatures staying below freezing, then tomorrow a chance of an early mix south mainly new jersey and delaware, we'll be watching that closely b

we'll make a quick view in south jersey elmer to cape may county. we're seeing light snowfall nothing sticking to the roads snowing from cape may to the atlantic city if you're traveling along the garden state parkway. from ac expressway to hammonton. it's not sticking to the road surfaces that's why a winter weather advisory has not been issued by the national weather service. there's the wider view a swath of new jersey to the eastern shore of maryland and carolinas. that will work out to sea, we'll not see any heavy snows flying this afternoon. from philadelphia north and west, it will be nothing more than a few flurries, the steadier lighter snows will fly across atlantic, cape may and current counties. as long as the numbers stay in the mid 30s, nothing will stick to the road surfaces, maybe a slushy accumulation to the grassy surfaces. that's about it. millville, 4. philadelphia, 37. 28 in the poconos. here's the wider view on satellite and radar. here's the arctic front stretching east of chicago through the high plains. bitter cold air from

most of what you see over south jersey is fairly light.'ll go ahead and give you the wide view and we'll start this baby up and you can see how this pushing off toward the northeast with a little bit of a slide toward the east. doesn't look like it will be around that much longer. taking a look outside and we have sky6 penn's landing and we are looking at perhaps a little bit of moisture on the road surfaces but with temperatures well above freezing, we are not looking at any frozen precipitation on the roads. 39 degrees up in allentown. 38 in reading. so, even in our cooler suburbs we're in the up are 30's. 41 in philadelphia, 40 in wilmington, 42 in millville. these numbers dipping a little bit over the next couple hours and then kind of hovering in the low 40's for most of the day. there again is the rain coming through. you also notice that the clouds are fairly thick but farther out to the west and northwestern pennsylvania, thinning out of the clouds is occurring and we think that thinning will get here. we'll return to at least some

heaviest in south jersey and delaware. you see it covering the entire area. we will zoom in to south jersey and delaware, along the shore. this is a main concern. we have snow in some spots. what we have seen so far -- these numbers are going up quickly. this is as of ten minutes ago oñ so. so about 3.5 inches through sussex county. some spots around 3.2 inches. a little over two inches in areas in kent county. some spots up to three inches. cape may county saw two inches. these totals are going to go way up. here is what you can expect along the shore. atlantic county right here, cape may county and sussex county, we are looking at areas a little bit farther inland, 12 to 17 inches. maybe milford as well. then you get closer to the shore, the totals go down to four to eight inches, wet snow in the areas along with strong winds. could be providing power outages to a big portion of these areas. that rain/snow line could give us a little bit of an uncertainty on the amounts. as far as the shore concerns, we have 60 mile an hour wind gusts expected. high tide, a

well, the heaviest snowfall still expected in northeastern maryland into northern delaware, south jersey and southeastern virginia, gloucester and salem counties and portions of cumberland county could see 14 to 18 inches. farther to the north and east, still significant snowfall of 10 to 14 inches. the closer you get to the shore, the more likely we'll see mixing with some rain. and possibly sleet in between the snow and the rain at the shore. one way or the other it's going to be very difficult to go anywhere. possibly nowhere at times on saturday. for today, you'll see increasing clouds, the temperatures top out in the low 30s this afternoon, colder than yesterday. cold enough for snow and that's what we'll see this evening. and the heaviest snowfall starts overnight tonight, all day on saturday, tapering off early on sunday. we will see a warm-up, a windy day on sunday, that will push the clouds out of here. we'll see rapidly improving conditions during the day on sunday. i expect the snow to end in the region likely before sunrise on sunday, so we'll have plenty of time sunday after

limited in south jersey because of the mixing expected, the rain snow line moving inland.uring the day still time to get out and about and make some plans for the coming storm. it will be dry during the day but clouds will be on the increase and take over by this afternoon. that will keep -- help keep temperatures lower. by tomorrow morning we'll be in the 20s, and 31 the high temperature, a major winter storm through the day on saturday. finally tapering off early on sunday. in fact, the snow will likely end before sunrise on sunday. and the wind will be picking up and clearing out. in spite of the snow on the ground which usually tends to limit the warm-up during the day, we'll still make it into the upper 30s sunday afternoon. very cold start on monday morning. anything on the ground will be frozen solid monday morning. but monday afternoon we'll see 40 degrees and warmer weather to come. in fact, the rest of the seven-day forecast shows the temperatures will be climbing. on tuesday with a high of 46 degrees. right around the 40-degree mark on wednesday and thursday. by

much of south jersey and delaware tomorrow morning feeling like zero degrees. aside from the cold out tomorrow morning, we're also talking about a storm by the end of this week. could be fairly significant. chief meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz has a look at that. glenn? >> sheena, in the winter it was practically snowless, with the strong record el nino you're often getting storms, but it's not cold enough. it's cold enough now, and that combination is what is leading us to a first alert for friday and into saturday. first alert weather day for this first major winter storm. and a lot of the area is going to see a big snowstorm out of this. there are issues at the shore, likely to change to rain, but the wind is going to be awful. and there's going to be a lot of coastal flooding off the full moon coming up. this is what it looks like now, kind of dry, just some flurries in the poconos. the storm we're talking about hasn't even hit the united states yet. it's offshore. you can see how well developed it is. there's a tremendous amount of moisture with
