you got to read southern horrors. you get a sense of her indignant commentary about the issue of lynching. we will get to that in just a second. she was born a slave in holly springs mississippi. we spent the first part of the class looking at what happened during reconstruction. how this is interracial democracy after republicans passed the military reconstruction act in 1867. they divided the south into military districts. they appointed governors, we get the passage of the 14th and 15th amendment. when the military registered the friedman they came in large numbers to vote. they presented new demands. they helped draft new state constitutions. i am reminding of this because ida b wells' parents were all emancipated at the end of the war. this is a family that got very involved in republican politics and took advantage of the friedman's bureau and what it had to offer. her father was part of this group called the loyal league. they were designed to protect black voting rights. her parents are very strong role models

we had a little bit of slush down earlier in parts of southern maryland, southern calvert, southern stmary's, the eastern shore seems to be getting the worst of it. the more moderate snow there and the blue area, which was across southern maryland on the northern neck. now most of the blue is east of the bay pulling in toward delaware and north new york, where they are expecting 9 inches of snow for central and eastern long island, for us, the back edge of the snow, the light snow and the flurries is coming through areas generally along route 15. there hasn't been much going on at all. look at these temperatures. most of them in the mid 30s. on the eastern shore, i have seen snow coverage. that means the lesser traveled roads are covered. i've been checking out, a lot of the cameraings toward california, lexington park, so looks like any real accumulating snow is east of the bay. we do have some delays from anne arundel and king george and st. mary's. calvert closed for the day. this goes down to colonial beach and westmoreland as well. but we'll see sunshine building in as temperature

you can see some of the snow trying to get into southern iowa. and you don't have to go far south to see rain. and as the storm tracks north it pulls in warmer air and the snow changes over to some rain and especially in the southern eastern counties and then comes to an end in the afternoon as we get dry swatted and that won't be the case in the far north and northwest where the snow continues tomorrow afternoon and evening. will occur. i think now the two inch line should be close to cedar rapid and little south of dubuque in the corner about 2 to 3 inches only an inch in the far southern counties and you get to about waterloo and prairie desheen from there on to the northwest that's where i think the 6 inch line should set up. so anywhere north and west of that line 6 to perhaps 8 inches of accumulation. the wore worst is the northwestern counties that's what the in-house model is showing see the lighter alities to the south. tracking northward some places look as 8 maybe 9 i pes of accumulation in some spots. that's where we have winter storm
