i am afraid with southern louisiana.hink we'll begin see some improvement in the weather as we go into the early part of the day tomorrow. isaac still likely to bring significant rain. the remnants will bring scattered showers and cloudy weather through potentially the mid atlantic and maybe new england as we go into the second half of our long weekend. the front is going to move in and push this moisture down in our direction. how much of it lingers we will see. but it has been a tremendous amount today. right in the mississippi, louisiana area. wet weather coming down. still tough to see. so few of our cameras have electrical power. we should show you more from the gulf coast but there are tens of thousands of people without power in parts of the gulf coast right now. bwi, it is a cool refreshing night out there. a chance to give the air conditioner a break. the next few nights pretty comfortable. humidity staying low around here. bright sunny day, a little warmer. dew points make things feel comfortable. on the whole,

just the northern part of the outer bands that have been making their way up through areas of southern louisiana. take a look at the radar. and as i zoom in a little tighter, you can see what i'm talking about. the far outer bands on the northwest side there. as you've heard doug mention for hours this storm system is going to sit, it is a sizable storm system. the winds, yeah, they're at hurricane status right now, over 74 miles per hour. so, this system does have a lot of wind with it, but a tremendous amount of rain and that storm surge, that water is going to be building up in many areas, pushing on the levees. landfall, probably just, we're thinking just west of this track and maybe wednesday, early in the day, but just west of that track and that will put it into areas around laugh yet again some time early wednesday. as it will be more to the west, it will take longer for that center to move inland. everything to the north of that, that's those bands of rain and a lot of rain, too, not only pushing on the levees, but a lot of rain falling from the sky. again, 6 to 18 inches, perhaps even

so it takes a while for storms in southern louisiana to lose their punch. it's still about 60 miles to the south-southwest of new orleans. the storm is not going to go over the top of new orleans, which is up here. it's going to go to the south of there and then pass to the west of new orleans. and that's keeping new orleans in the stronger bands to the north and to the northeast side. the dirty side of the storm. new orleans has, by far, seen the worst of this storm along with their friends all the way down here along the plaquemines parish, the pretty rural areas down there. so far about 4 1/2 inches of rain to as much as 7 1/2 inches of rain. so those pumps are working overtime. this is a big test for them. so far, so good, but they still have to go probably another 12 to 24 hours of all of this rain. flash flood warnings, that's who's been hit the hardest. surge problems in this next high tide cycle. probably shouldn't be as bad as the last one, but we'll still see water issues. these winds, 74-mile-per-hour gusts, a hurricane-force gust, we just saw it
