police have arrested a man in southern virginia and he is now charged with murdering two women in marylandearlier today, officers found the victims in a home in oxen hill. derek ward has more from that neighborhood along chloe drive. >> reporter: police have arrested 54-year-old malcolm paul thomas. he was arrested in wakefield, virginia, his listed address here on chloe drive in oxen hill where bodies two victims were found. after someone called police to check on the occupants of the home. police found the two women dead. police are only saying that the pair suffered trauma to their upper bodies. >> they've been here about four years or so. >> reporter: by nightfall, investigators returned to the home taking what appeared to be more evidence from the scene. early on, police said this didn't appear to be a random crime. they said it was domestic and that calmed some of the fears among neighbors but not the xshlg of having a double murder so close to home. >> you see it on television. you hear about it. then you wake up one morning to the police knocking on your door and you find out that

and then in southern maryland, especially in southern portions of prince george's county where it is raining steadily right now in upper marlboro. in clinton. along 381 and route 4. down through calvert county and dunkirk where we have pretty heavy rain right now. but the heavier rain is still on the approach. and you can see that here as we widen the view and the pockets of heavier rain indicated in the yellows and oranges. even some reds popping through here. but i have the lightning tracker turned on and we don't have any lightning strikes occurring at moment. by the way this green shading over most of the state of west virginia is a flash flood watch and any intense heavy downpours in that area could produce flash flooding. we are not under the same risk because the heaviest rain tray correctory is going to take it to the south of the metro area and not affect us directly. 9 futurecast will give us a look at thunderstorms as they pop up. and we'll time out when everything improves coming up in the first alert seven day forecast. >>> thank you erica. turning now to the corruption

southern maryland, pax river is 81. up to the north gaithersburg 82 degrees. the heat index values, they're not that much different. the air is a little bit dry. it's humid but not as humid as it can be for august. dew points drop add few degrees down to 62. -- dropped a few degrees down to 62. there's no wind. if you're going to be out in the sun and no wind, it is a hot afternoon. we're watching a front on the coast actually coming up underneath there. that's some of bertha's cloud cover there and some scattered showers to the west. but high pressure nearby once again today giving us the light winds and mostly dry weather except for maybe a pop-up shower in the mountains. i'm really not expecting much today. tomorrow will be a different story. the front will approach. by the middle of the day you'll notice how the showers are starting to approach hagerstown, down i-81 and points west. they'll get here in the middle of the afternoon, into the later afternoon. this is why tomorrow will be a yellow alert day. this will all sweep out of here by thursday morning.
