we have a tornado warning across southern maryland. you can see how it began to develop over the last hour or so. moving toward the east. just around 10 miles per hour. nothing around the immediate metro area. head farther south. we have another severe thunderstorm warning. this is for fauquier and prince william county. this is until 5:30. county. this is 10 to 15 miles per hour. the thunderstorm is capable of producing gusty winds and thunder and lightning. and hail. this is the time that you need to be on the lookout. you are looking at the stronger storms. head back to southern maryland for you and give you another update as far as what we are expecting or what we are watching here. with the severe thunderstorm warning and the tornado warning as it moves across southern maryland. once again, i can't stress enough this is to lar radar indicated. this is what we have seen in the last four weeks or so. across the bay with the tornado that hit stevensville. they appear to have the rotation. the severe thunderstorm warning. the tornado

the heaviest rain is setting up right now over parts of southern maryland, through dunkirk, la plata, and back to fredericksburg. it's not as bad. it's been mainly a light rain. i want to show you what it looks like on the roads right now. this is what it will feel like. driving on the outer level of the beltway. it's raining. the rain rates, our photojournalist told us has been picking up. and we have areas of heavy rain right now, that are moving into prince george's county, through charles county, and the rain rates in some areas have been to where they've picked up over an inch, and it's only been raining in parts of southern maryland for about an hour and a half so far. here's what it looks like right now. heavy rain, with a little bit of lightning over dunkirk. prince frederick, and this is all moving over the north and east. there is an end in sight, but it's going to take a while to get there. we're going to go through future cast, and talk about when the rain will be i'm expecting this afternoon. flash flooding risk is greatest across southern maryland. over towards the south

south, well south of 66, and into southern maryland. these storms pounded baltimore earlier.d these, it's pretty quiet. so if you haven't seen a shower yet in leesburg, or tonight. you could tomorrow, but i don't think you will tonight. here's the latest severe thunderstorm warning down to the south. it is now a severe thunderstorm warning for st. mary's county until 6:15. into much of charles county, and st. mary's county, because of that same storm. tracking, headed towards st. mary's city at 6:15. and ridge at 6:37. moving off to the south and east. at the very least, heavy rain, and also damaging winds. not so much hail. this storm also a severe thunderstorm warning for culpepper, and stafford. pretty big rains going on around 17. headed towards stafford. eventually toward white water at 6:16, and maybe all the way to nangemoy as it moves this is a pretty big storm. over 60,000 feet. notice, we don't see any magenta, or purple. so we don't see any hail cores for that. it did produce hail earlier, when it was west and northwest of culpepper. now just heavy winds. speaking

there's some of that rain off to the southern maryland area.n we start to dry out, maybe a little sunshine and then look at these storms that roll by anytime after 3:00 or 4:00 this afternoon and continuing. this is 7:00 so, again, that's first pitch. we will continue to see that rain scoot off to the east after about 10:00 we will be drying out, we will be clearing and that humidity will drop through the day tomorrow. this is all due to a frontal system. high winds, heavy rains. i do not think the severe threat will be as widespread as it was yesterday. we just don't want a lot of sunshine today because that only increases our instability. tomorrow we will get that sunshine but we do not have any threat of rain tomorrow. we will be dry tomorrow and lower but then that humidity moves right back in on monday. monday we only have an isolated chance of storms, better chance south and east of d.c., low 80s on monday and then we dry out, tuesday, wednesday, thursday, next chance of rain after that on friday. >> thank you very much. >>> from hollywoo
