she had the dog for two years and had given it to someone. 91 of which is true says the spca. that woman is now charged with animal cruelty specifically abandonment. the bucks county spca said it is already changed its policy to now notify shelters of origin which one a dog comes n philadelphia police looking for two men they say robbed and carjacked a man. police say two guys carjacked a man while he was pulling up to his business on the 2800 block of north ninth street. this all happened just after 11:00 in the morning on augus august 13th. once inside the men were able to get their hands on more than $4,100. after making sure they got all the cash, the men told the driver to get out of the car and they took off. if you've seen these men you know who they are in this video please call police. >>> delaware county springfield township police want your help finding this guy. police say he walked into the rite aid on last week, pulled a gun on the assistant manager, demanded money out of the safe. nobody is hurt. investigators won't say if he got away with anything. help get thi

nbc 10's jesse gary is live at the pennsylvania spca. what do folks need to know if they plan to adopt today? >> reporter: if you're going to adopt, you'll have to bring one very important item with you today. that is this. a government issued i.d. that is part of phase one in the adoption process. filling out the paper work. once that's done, you're going to do what these two little girls did. this is bernie johnson and his daughters yesterday in old city at the paws center. adoption officials want potential pet owners and the objects of their affection to spend time getting to know each other. adoption specialists say it's important to make sure both parties are comfortable with the proposed pairing. >> it's about getting to know both the animal and the adopter to make sure that it's a good match. >> that describes the success angie matthews and longtime beau melvin jones had when they fell in love with each other and the kitten they adopted. i'll explain more about their story coming up in the next hour. we're live in juniata this mor

home. >> reporter: this dog has come a long way since the doctor first saw her at the delaware county spca. >> she came in very sick, vomiting, very thin. >> reporter: her name is nikita. last year she came to the shelter emaciated and neglected and had swallowed a toy that needed to be surgically removed. after the procedure, the doctor took her home to administer intensive care. that's when her husband got to know her. >> i said we should, if she makes it, we have to keep her. she did make it. it was touch and go for a couple days. but she just got stronger and stronger. >> reporter: after this family adopted this dog, she is now fully healthy and helping this family and their son who has autism. >> i believe she's sort of like a healing dog to him because she gives him comfort when he's feeling overwhelmed or frustrated. >> reporter: his behavior can be difficult and his parents say nikita helps engage him better in social situations. >> even highly trained dogs sometimes can be reactive. she's not a therapy dog, not highly trained. she's just a good-natured dog. we are just very fortun
