problematic would be for your party to show unity if the same members prevent her from getting the speakership on the floor of the house in january? mr. jefferies: every member has the opportunity to do what they feel is best on behalf of the communities they represent. the first order of business when we reconvene at 1:00 p.m. will be to take a vote on our speaker designee. as of the moment, nancy pelosi is the only candidate who has submitted her name and we'll see what happens when the meeting reconvenes if someone emerges. but again, these are all contests of ideas, working through the process of preparing to transition from where we're to the house majority. once we do that, we'll all come ogether. reporter: a number of freshmen members who have ambitions to be on pretty powerful committees, it's not usually the case for freshmen to get into those seats. what is your view on how those eats should be am located? -- allocated? mr. jefferies: as we turn to the organizational rules for the mention congress we'll work through those discussions. mr. jeffries: the only determination that can be

i think she'll take that spirit into the speakership come january. pelosi deserves to be chosen speaker of the house. if they give her a hard time, we will have some republican votes. she has earned this great honor. how do you read that? is the president sincere, or is he trolling? >> well, i wish everybody would say it, and then we wouldn't have to worry about needing republican votes for the speakership race. nobody works harder than nancy pelosi. this is another point to her resiliency. she'll say put it on a shelf. you can't talk about politics all the time. this is a person who still is best friends with awe handful of women she went to cleanly with. this is a woman who takes good care to listen to people and remember the details about what's going on in their lives. she said you need to be a good partner and a good friend, and you can't be so wrapped up in politics that you don't take the time out to be a human being. again, i think it's nice what the president said. i think she'll win on democratic votes and let's just say on that topic we ag
