stacy cohan has a look at the conditions there. >> reporter: it is not a good story out here. the road conditions are like they are in much of the region, snow covered, just dusted but underneath the snow, it is slick and icy. a lot of cars have been skidding out here. montgomery and prince george's county have had some of the worst conditions we've seen all morning. maryland state highway says they do have crews out now salting and sanding the major roadways but right here we're on georgia avenue not too far from blair road and although rush hour hasn't begun in full force yet, these roads are not well traveled enough to cause any clear of the lanes. if they should have to stop studley, they will have a difficult time. it is also bitter cold. please take that into consideration. if you have children, dress them this many, man, man layers. my photographer and i were trying to count all the layers we have on and i think we're up to six. it is still cold when the winds come through. it cut -- it cuts just like a knife. the roads don't look dangerous but we were skidding everywhe

our stacy cohan is live at the foggy bottom metro stop in northwest with more now. stacy, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. and this threat targeted metro stations and not too far from georgetown, foggy bottom metro and it is busy. this is a pattern, this is not the first time about potential terrorists saying metro may be a target. this particular suspect was caught on facebook. this is how it unfolded. an informant from new orleans contacted the fbi and talked about the postings that were referring to a terrorist attack in washington. one of the potential targets was the underground sewer system under georgetown and another was the metro rail system. the informant said back on november 20th the man posted a description of how to make a pipe bomb and how to make them cause the maximum damage. now federal agents moved in on the man's arlington, virginia home back on december 5th. that is after a message in which he clearly was on to the informant and threatened this person for leaking information. we spoke to an expert who talked about why it's so important to

stacy cohan is live near the pentagon this morning with more. stacy, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. we have a lot to talk about for people that ride metro. we are here live at the pentagon station where apparently there was a report of a suspicious package in the 7:00 hour. this morning somebody saw something in a trash can. they shut down the pentagon metro station and used shuttle bus service to get folks around. at the end of the day the pentagon police department was able to determine it was a christmas ornament and everything is returning to normal here at the pentagon. now to the other metro-related story. this one involves a plot or alleged terrorist plot of a virginia man who was saying he would have a terrorist strike against metro station and georgetown. this is all revealed via facebook. the fbi got a tip from a friend on facebook and he posted that he planned to put a bomb under the sewer system in georgetown or make a pipeline bomb for the metro. police moved into his home on december 5th after a message that threatened the
