this put stakeholders group was primarily mono lingual, spanish speaking latino mothers. so, i just wanted to highlight a few of those points that were raised in that round table discussion, although it was not intended for our district, i think there's some value in sharing that and keeping that in mind as we align the pre-k through third approach to education here in our district to support student achievement. and those points are that location is key for pre-k programs. many of these mothers don't drive and, so, it was to stress the importance of being able to either walk to pre-k programs that are in the neighborhood or that are easily accessible by transportation, especially when they have to take their other school age children to school sites and get them there in a timely manner. bilingual pre-k programs are highly desirable. these parents stress the importance of wanting to have the home language supported while their children are still receiving english language development instruction. and the last point that i really want to highlight is the special education

so through this i feel i've felt i'm a stakeholder that was the reason i became a participant in the japan town organizing committee in addition to my own personal connections to the committee through the board of supervisors for the japanese-american national library. i'd like to affirm the japan plan but i'd like to speak from the angel of academic he teaching in the university and would like to stress the importance of doing what can be done to preserve such a rich and a culturally diverse community especially in connection with the social and cultural heritage. it's a long-standing mission even if ethic studies even if being a upper place in the country that links the you thought to bay community and through this mission we as faculty encourage and seek to create opportunity for our students to experience things in their own community whereby i hope in their later crazy they'll give back to their community. many of the students are here today to learn about the relationship between community and the business of the city. every semester we bring students out to japan down u town b

thank you >> i'm herbert i'm a native san franciscan and also an i am paled stakeholder of mta. sadly this hearing addresses the transit effectiveness project and doesn't include human impact. no physician or professional has rectified this impact upon pedestrians. it is basically flawed because it does talk about bus transportation while the transportation agency claims it's adding new vehicles it's retiring vehicles at the same time and pollution exists while the ridership grows without services increasing. if the mta can spend more money on others facilities why can't it allocate funds for a net increase for transportation vehicles why must it make the residents surf from discontinued bus runs. it will be less services to the neighborhood. the heart and soul of san franciscans. the elderly and frail will have to walk longer distances to the bus stops. notablely in the chronically terminally ill. while this plan is sound it's humanly a hardship for many. electric muni buses. please send this project and those formulated back to the board to come up with a better transportation

collaborative process that is oerlgd by the department of emergency management our department but we engage stakeholder from a wide variety of departments fire department, police department, building spickets and mayor's office and ed. we engageeveral times a year for project proposals for their departments want to see equipment or training for their staff members. those proposals are valeted for the funds. we make sure that it meets the grant guidelines and we ask that peer group of folks from the first responders department to rank them and the top ones get fema support and the ones that don't rise to the top my get funded next year before sometimes you need multiple years to get projects funded. so if things are half done we're going to fund those before starting something new. the ultimate allocation is approved by the homeland security and it's made up of our department and the police department and the head of the d hr and other heads of department. some occur in other jurisdictions and we get our region allocation we spend it widely and heavily - it is certainly not a couple of department heads

around polk street there's been dozens of meetings really trying to balance the needs of all the stakeholders. and so it's is it fair to say no one is happy about what's been recently proposed for polk street but what the mta is trying to do is calibrate the interests on polk street. the gentleman just provided us the excuse me. africa down one street by north of california all the way down to fillmore street was changed at the request of the many merchants who wanted to see all the needs of the businesses in this area. that's appropriate because we heard from the merchants as well as the residents but in the areas south of california street i think there are two things try about that position. first and foremothering month a much higher number of cycling and injuries in that area is in that corridor and secondly, we doesn't hair the same type of information from merchants and residents on polk street. i i don't think anyone is satisfied where it end up but i wanted to thank the mta for trying to balance the need and there's still ongoing meetings. this is probably the first time that my staf
