why is there this automatic stay? anybody else can weigh in. >> this stay is sometimes extended to parties who are co-liable with the debtor because, for example, they may share insurance. and if the automatic stay is not extended to a party that shares insurance with the debtor and all of that insurance is depleted for other claims that are directly against that other estate but not against the debtor, then the debtor's estate is diminished. so there are reasons why the stay may actually be validly employed against other companies. but the problem that these companies are facing, that the tort victims are facing, is that the stay is stopping all action. so johnson & johnson, for example, can go on its merry way without anybody suing it for its direct liability that's totally up related to its co-liability. there are different theories and causes of action that can be brought by parties. >> is this stay a result of judicial action or is there some law that says in bankruptcy filings there will be an automatic stay? >>

ukrainians are staying put and doing their very best to try and stay calm.night there are couples out filling the restaurants here in kyiv celebrating valentine's day. and this country is stuck in the very midst of a very real crisis, a standoff between russia and the west, and neither side looks ready to blink. russia is still building up its forces, parading its potential near ukraine's border. so much so that western governments are saying an invasion could be launched within days now — the war warnings coming thick and fast. so volodymyr zelensky has addressed the nation, assuring ukrainians the country is confident, stronger than ever, that russia is trying to scare them and they won't succumb. and the talks to defuse this crisis have been intensifying. today, it was the german chancellor's turn in town, showing support for kyiv, seeking ways to get russia to pull back its troops. president zelensky underlined that won't be by ukraine dropping its right tojoin nato. tomorrow, the german leader heads to moscow. translation: i'm making it clear once again

before the weekend it looks like it stays to our north. stopping here wednesday night into thursday, we are looking at the possibility of widespread rain, although this looks to be moving so quickly we may not get a lot out of this, and it could at least bring in a little bit more light sierra snow. next week we're looking at more active weather, but it doesn't look like anything major here. and the fact that a lot of the heavier rain stays to the north of us, parts of bay area may only get a trace to maybe a quarter inch of rain farther to the north. so rainfall totals are pretty low. as far as the sierra snowpack, it continues to decline. hopefully we do get snow next week because right now it's only at 66% of normal statewide as the snow levels continue to go higher up. and we're looking at the snowfall totals for next week, very light. at this point the models still going back and forth. we'll get closer to that and see how these issues resolve as we go into next week. but at least we do, once again, have some chances of rain and there
