but first, let us check in with stephanie gosk along the parade route. good morning, steph. we know the forecast. is everybody for the rain down where you are? >> reporter: happy thanksgiving, hoda. they are. and you know what, you have to hand it to the crowds. there's a group of women who come every single year, they're local, undeterred by the rain. there are people here from colorado, illinois, georgia. the water is not getting in their way. there are some safety concerns and you heard al talk about them when it comes to the balloons and the wind. there is a unit, an emergency service unit with the nypd, their entire job today is to monitor those balloons. they're trained in the ropes. while there are rope handlers for the balloons these guys jump in if there's a problem. with wind. they have also been along the route, clearing it, making sure there are no obstructions. you know that pulley system, those ropes get pretty complicated, so pretty extensive training so they could be ready in case the wind picks up and, obviously, if it gets too windy they bring the balloons

stephanie gosk has more. >> reporter: an investigation is underway at an alleged burglary at the homeas city's star quarterback, patrick mahomes. according to a police report obtained by nbc news, deputies received a call shortly after midnight on october 6th saying the mahomes residence has been broken into. the report does not identify mahomes by name, but the address matches public records. the break-in happened just one day before the chiefs defeated the saints. mahomes lives on an eight acre estate in missouri about 30 miles outside kansas city. >> i was like if i'm going to be here, i might as well build the home i want. >> reporter: the construction of the mansion recently featured in the series, quarterback. >> i'm excited to say i'm a part of chiefs kingdom. >> reporter: travis kelce's home was also allegedly broken into. according to a police report, a door was damaged and $20,000 in cash stolen. local police would not comment on the situation, saying the agency only publicly comments on homicides and car crashes, but a spokesperson pointed nbc news to a 911 call log map sho
