stephanie sierra was in the courtroom and joins us live from san jose. ic end to a years long saga. elizabeth holmes went from being silicon valley's rising superstar to convicted criminal. the soon-to-be mother of two is going to be facing more than 11 years in federal prison. a sentence that is certainly a surprise to legal experts. in context, holmes was convicted of four counts of wire fraud and conspiracy. that conviction bader eligible for up to 20 years in prison. the federal prosecutors wanted 15 years. the federal probation department recommended nine. legal experts say this is somewhat more than expected. it is unusual to have a sentence more than what the federal probation department recommends. the four month long trial wrapped nearly a year ago. during that time, there was anticipation for holmes' sentencing and speculation over what the message would send. the judge was very specific, saying he was taking into account the sympathetic factors. she is pregnant with her second child. and also, more than 130 letters that were sent in in support
