it might be you could get lower tax revenue and simplified tax code, and i think that's what steve forbes argued for. but overall i think it's a spending issue and role of government issue, and our constitution is the problem. so this is not going to solve the problem. but some people say instead of the flat tax you should have a sales tax. no matter what the reforms are, you have to talk about spending. that is one of the reasons i never endorsed either one. fit provide an opportunity to lower taxes, i would have supported it. but i didn't want to get away from tinkering with the tax code thinking it would deal with structural problems. kennedy: ultimately lowering taxes is not the goal because then you would have to lower spending. in the end it's all a charade, but hopefully society will benefit. in the chamber of commerce things are getting testy over healthcare. the gop is preparing to vote on their healthcare bill next week. democrats are angry the republicans have been meeting behind closed doors and haven't taken the bill to the senate floor. last night they held a talk-athon. >>
