joining us with more cnn law enforcement contributor steve moore, a retired supervisory special agentthe fbi. steve, a law enforcement source tells me the suspect was under surveillance in the days before his arrest in pennsylvania. tell us what that might have looked like and why would it take law enforcement several days to make that arrest? >> what you want to do is make sure you have the t's crossed and the i's dotted before you arrest. this is not uncommon. the fbi does this a lot. when you go on these surveillances, what you're doing is basically keeping a lid on the person, make sure they don't escape, don't do any more violence and it's a 24-hour affair. you'll have 8 or 9 cars, airplanes up, the whole bit. this is a large event. and this is what the fbi can do. and this is how the fbi can help local police departments. but for about four days, the agents kept an eye on this guy to where he would not commit violence and he would not e escape. >> it's interesting because i spoke to a source today who claimed to have talked to kohberger and his dad in pennsylvania on december 16

economist and former trump adviser steve moore is here to weigh in.usual for the estimate and the revision to just be this far apart? >> yeah, first of all, i don't think there was any deliberate attempt to lie about the data. you just have two different reports that come out. one is a report that measures how many people businesses are hiring, and the other report is a sample of people that, they asked people are you working. and what's unusual, usually the reports are pretty close. this is a giant gap. a million jobs, so all scratching our head. but i have talked to people at the bureau of labor statistics. i think what is going to happen over time, you will see a convergence. so, i would say over that period, instead of a million jobs created, somewhere near a half million. >> john: put it up on the screen what the philadelphia fed said. estimated jobs were over 1 million, and after revisions oh, no, it was not that, we missed by a million and 21,000. it was 10,500. >> highly unusual. that big of a -- >> john: it has an effect, pointed out by barro

and here is a capitalist market strategies, and steve moore, svengali, and katherine, you first, peopleike ken fisher, and like fisher, moynihan and others are saying we're going to have some bumps, but it's not going to be nearly as bad. what do you say? >> well, inflation has to come down, unfortunately, the fed held rates too low too long and we're dealing with the aftermath of that. remember, inflationary pressures aren't just supply side. it's not all putin's fault, it's not supply chain distortion's fault. we have a labor market that's overheated. for the fed to get back to 2%, the employment rate cannot remain where it is, 3.7%, that's very close to historic lows, even the fed sees unemployment rising to 4.4. i think, neil, it goes to 5% plus, and if i'm right, historically, it's never happened in the united states that unemployment over a course of 12 months rises 50 basis points or more and the economy is not already in recession. so, that's coming and that's what's required at this point for the fed to comply with its dual mandate, which remember is 2% inflation and full emplo
