let's turn to steve patterson. he's covering the sanders campaign from los angeles today. sanders is about to take the stage at a rally this hour. we're hearing today that sanders has won some concessions from the clinton folks. he's going to have more input into writing the party platform this summer. what else can you tell us? >> reporter: we learned today that the sanders campaign will get to appoint five chairs to a crucial democratic subcommittee. they were quick to point out that they don't have a majority, that that's to clinton's six members. so they won't necessarily have a force of will, but they say that this is an important step in the healing process. this, of course, an important olive branch in the midst of all of this infighting. the sanders campaign facing off against the dnc chair. and really, what we've seen here is something that hopefully will lead them to facing donald trump and getting the party on past this. we've also spoken to a lot of sanders supporters in the crowd here. you can see the crowd again surging for sanders. here really because of san

steve patterson is in menlo park, california. steve, what is the agenda for this meeting today?s, that cadre of conservative leadership expected to arrive in about an hour. that's when they plan to have a sit-down with mark zuckerberg. the plan we're hearing from facebook, well, honestly we're not hearing much from facebook exactly what they're going to talk about, with the exact list of people. but we do know the overall topic is going to be trending topics, facebook under fire this week, first of all, we heard that that top trending list is not exactly -- it doesn't exactly all come from an algorithm. i think a lot of people thought it did, top stories that people put in their facebook feeds. it comes from news gathering efforts and it is cultivated by what is considered almost like an editorial board like you would find at a traditional mainstream newspaper, people that sit and decide what gets on the topic list. what facebook is under fire for is there is a whistle blower, an anonymous source that says facebook was abusing that power, suppressing conservative stories, suppre

steve patterson joins me from menlo park, california. steve, good morning. this meeting today? >> reporter: good morning, jose. well, the olive branch that was extended by mark zuckerberg and the facebook team largely expected to be accepted by the conservative leadership that is going to come here today to meet with zuckerberg. we're expecting them to learn a little bit more about how this trending topics page works, so that's what we expect from the meeting later on today. but we've learned a whole lot more about how it works. just over the past week and a half of reporting because of what facebook has admitted, that the popular algorithm that takes bits and bites from different places in facebook, also kind of intersects with a separate news gathering aggregation process so we've learned a lot more about that and facebook has admitted that. also we're learning about how the curation process works. there's a small team like a small editorial board that curates these topics and decides what goes on top of the list and how that is put onto facebook as well.
