kron 4's sara stinson is live at the scene with the latest. sara? marty, the home here on 8th avenue is nearly burned down, you can see how charred it is behind me...sf firefighters worked for three hours to make sure nearby homes didn't burn down. and crews were mostly successful, there is signifigant damage to the immediate homes next door, but they are still standing.here is some cell phone video sent to us of the flames when the fire started before 10 last night.several buildings here evacuated as more than 100 firefighters were on scene battling the fire.crews contained the blaze before midnight and have been on fire watch ever since. the fire has destroyed one building, but had several units inside including 1806, 1808 and 1810. the s-f fire department does not have an exact number of people displaced. those who evacuated have since returned to here. the bay area red cross is assisting those who have been displaced. as you said we confirmed a woman died in firefighter was injured during the response.the cause is still being investigated. live

police are investigating a deadly car crash early this morning in san jose.( darya ) kron 4's sara stinson is live at the scene... sara, any details from police? the crash happened here on west san carlos street...it took three tow trucks to tow it out of this steep embankment.you can see in the video the car is completely charred as the car caught fire after it crashed.this was first reported around 1:20 this morning right off of bird avenue next to the 76 station. i spoke to an employee working at the time of the deadly crash...he said he believes at least three people were rescued from the car in the embankment and takento the hospital. he says he heard the entire crash unfold.we do know at least one person died in the single car crash.we have reached out to the san jose police, but have not been able to confirm the name or age of the driver. west san carlos street is now open after being closed for five hours while officers investigated the scene.i'm working to find out more details about this person who died and if there were in fact more people in the car who survived this crash.live

(justine) another big story we are following tonight... southwest airlines cancelled dozens of flights today ...as the airline inspects planes engines. those engines are similar to the one that failed on a southwest flight earlier this week. (jrs) a man is behind bars tonight after being accused of robbing a store in san pablo. he was arrested after he allegedly took merchandise and pointed a gun at a store employee who confronted him. when police arrived at the store, they viewed surveillance video and recognized the suspect from prior contacts. police did not identify the man. they say he was captured minutes later and found with a pellet gun and drugs.
