we're going to talk more about tropical storm harvey. you can see the center of harvey sits just to the south of austin, but it's to the east of harvey that has become the major problem zone. as expected, it's the heavy rain that's led to catastrophic flooding right over the houston area where reports of more than 20 inches of rain have come in. i want to loop this from the last 24 hours to show you, this is a loop of how little harvey has moved for a day straight. also note the heaviest rain bands have almost consistently been over houston, and therein lies the problem with these areas seeing such high volumes of emergency calls right now and flood rescues occurring because there's been so much rain with much more rain to come. in fact, anywhere from 15 to 25 inches additional rain is possible. here's a look at the updating track of tropical storm harvey. winds are at 45 miles per hour. that keeps it a tropical storm, but it's only moving at 1 miles per hour to the south-southwest. practically not moving at all, as it's done for the last
