suhr, chief suhr is saying about 4:15 this afternoon police began to receive phone calls about somebody with a gun on a construction elevator across the street from st. luke's. this is a building under construction. it's bare bones right now. nothing but structural steel. police officers responded to this man. he pointed a rifle, a shotgun, at the officers, according to chief suhr. officers -- a number of officers who had responded to the reports of the shooting opened fire on him and killed him. while this was all going on, st. luke's hospital was on lockdown. people were running for their lives not knowing exactly how many shooter there is were. had he been neutralized. when the officers shot. was it him shooting or officers shooting no one knew. we spoke to a construction worker who was on the scene at that construction site when it all went down. here's what he said. >> they told us to get off the building. when we went off that south stairs we saw him shooting a gun. actually shooting like a long duck hunting shotgun. >> reporter: chief suhr says sfpd was contacted by san bruno pol
