the snow is falling here in suitland. i'm in my car because the biggest challenge that you will face likely this morning is driving on these snowy side streets. many ever the main roads we've been running into, those look good but the side streets still lots of snow. so this is where you're going to find a lot of problems. the snow is really light at this point. light and fluffy snow but it's really causing a lot of trouble on the side streets. it can be very, very slick. stopping is a problem. so either drive in a low gear or just very slowly. also another word of advice, brush off the snow off your car. the snow is so light i can literally brush it off with my hand. aaa said a lot of the hazards on the road are caused by drivers who don't brush off the snow creating some hazards for the drivers behind them. and that causes some visibility issues of course. so you have to take care of that as well. make sure you have good tread on your tires. i know monika just had a great little spot segment with someone talking about t

same thing for suitland parkway. when i drove on it early this morning, there were snowy conditions. some spots where the snow completely covered the ground. now, though, we are seeing wet conditions than the snow covered conditions. an improvement. there's a plow, in fact, about to pass me by here. putting the chemicals down. now the tape that you're lookin in the suitland area. we were there about 45 minutes ago. this is quarter avenue. you see the snow-packed condition that they have there. side streets, many of them have not been reached by the plows. they have not been treated. those streets you're going to find this morning can be treacherous. the snow has accumulated on the roadway there. in some cases you cannot see the lines. it's slick, it's a little treacherous. so as you're leaving this morning, keep in mind that probably the worst conditions that you're going to experience or find will be in your neighborhood. things do improve as you get out there to the major roadways. still, things are slick. you need

wusa9 reporter delia goncalves is checking out the conditions in suitland, maryland. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. welcome back, andrea. it does really depend on where you're coming from. traveling in from the district early this morning, i didn't have a problem. some of the side streets were snowy. some of our colleagues who live in northern virginia really had a tough time. lots of black ice and really some slick spots. you do have to be careful in regards to where you're coming from. but take a look here in suitland on pennsylvania avenue where right at the intersection of penn crossing drive right before silver hill road, you can totally see we're down to the pavement on the main road. however, here is the issue that you'll be dealing with in your morning commute when you're waking up and heading out of the house. a lot of these side streets here still snow packed. so you're going to have to add a little extra time to your commute and drive slowly on these side streets. let's take a look at some video that was shot just a few hours ago or so this early
