it will be cold again tonight but as we take a look at sunol, this had a coating of snow yesterday. that's gone and it's back to green. as we go throughout the day, i'm taking in everyone's pictures. we are still going to see the snow coating the hills in the distance over san jose. this is a picture sent to me by lisa unruh showed me the view out her window in mt. hamilton hills. it looks beautiful. we're heading into the low 50s for our highs today. most of us seeing those temperatures well below normal. oakland today, 54 degrees and 52 for the high in napa after the 20s this morning. we have a couple more days of some dry weather. we see the next storm system cranking up out there in the pacific, as we time it out and see when it will arrive, it looks like by friday morning we'll start to see showers move into the north bay. it may be heavy at times. even a chance of some snow around lake and mendicino counties northward. and more snow throughout the weekend. it is going to bring some decent rainfall totals once again to the bay area and more snow. take a look at how beautiful th

here's a look at mendocino coast and as we head inland to sunol. it is mostly cloudy. looking at san jose, you can still see the very top of those hills still coated in snow and will be some more know moving in going into the weekend. temperatures stay cool, only reaching about 51 degrees and continuing to cool off as we go into tonight as the rain starts to move in. but right now as we get a look at storm ranger, the red scan parked on san bruno mountain and see how close it is to san francisco so i'd give it another few minutes and see it moving in around ocean beach and then going into the rest of the late morning, early afternoon hours seeing it moving into the peninsula. a lot of bright reds there and no storms and will have a slight storm chance going into this afternoon and into the evening as the system moves in. saw one lightning strike there off the coast and we can see how large the storm is but it is not that strong. it will bring us, though, some more rain on top of the rain we have already gotten and there will be a low flood risk with it bringing a quart

looking from the peninsula, woodside and the clear blue skies across the bay area and then inland to sunol, nice to see the green hills around the bay area and once again the snow that we can barely see in the distance there looking over toward the foothills. we are going do see mostly sunny skies throughout the rest of the day. the temperatures in the mid-50s. but normally this time of year we should be hitting 63 degrees but we are not close and it's been cool all throughout the week. as you head out for the evening, make sure you have on a nice, warm coat and then our cloud cover will start to move in once again as we see this next storm system approaching. we can even see the clouds over the pacific northwest and this will gradually make the dive south into the bay area. this will also tap into some subtropical moisture known as the pineapple express and enhances the rainfall and creates several inches of snow in some of the areas that will see it but going into sunday in the evening hours we could see that rain moving into ukiah and the north. the bay area not seeing much of this but

as we move up and you can see around milpitas, the sunol ground, south on 680 towards discovery bay on highway 4. we've got a good shower there. up in the north bay, more scattered light rain. so let me go through the forecast for you. here we are. the time frame is in your upper right-hand corner. this is 5:30. you can still see a lot of green, lot of light rain. embedded yellows. heavier showers there. as we head through the morning commute, it starts to clear out a little bit until 9:00. then we get a first chance of a thunderstorm or heavier showers with brief downpours and localized heavy rain. also notice up around ukiah we get our first taste of cooler weather as the snow level starts to drop and snow mixes in. now, this is all falling apart by noon. still hanging on in the south bay and the peninsula. a little bit of a break in the afternoon hours except for the north bay. here comes another cold front and look how it turns the wintry mix into snow around ukiah. this is going to move through as the evening commute ends. up until 8:30. this is another chance of thunderstorms wit

the road was closed for several hours between fremont and sunol. cal trans needed to bring in heavy equipment to clear the big rocks... and that took time. but the road r-eopened about five during the evening commute... (ken) the rain caused problem on roads across the bay area. a number of accidents were reported. one crash caused a serious backup for commuters in the east bay. kron 4's haaziq madyun reports. a load of tree lumber and debris blocking the #2 and #3 lanes here on northbound 242 just south of the grant avenue exit in concordthe major traffic hazard occurred around 9:45am as the rain came down pretty heavy in the east bay according to the california highway patrol, a three vehicle collision involving two passenger vehicles and one vehicle carrying the load of debris that was dumped onto the freeway. all three vehicles had to be towed away. no reports of any injuries traffic was slowed to a crawl as it to a single lane while caltrans crews cleared the roadway. took about 2-hours to get it reopenedon hwy 242 in concord haaziq madyun kro

our radar will take you from 580 to 680, pleasanton and dublin, sunol, very wet out there. pockets of heavier rain from hercules to martinez. highway 24, walnut creek it's been raining all night for you. up in the north bay, 121 and highway 37, that usually is a big flooded area. look at the reds moving into the peninsula here, san francisco, and just up about 1,000 feet winds are gusting to over 50 miles an hour at half moon bay. the winds have not been a factor at the airport as of yet so no delays. we're looking at millbrae and pacifica, some pretty good downpours. down through the santa cruz mountains, stanford, sunnyvale, this is a 3 on our storm impact scale because we're looking at storm drains getting overwhelmed and that wind warning until 10:00 this morning. with 1 to 2 inches in the valley, 2 to 4 inches in the hills, we're looking at a combination of some issues throughout the early part of the day. then another round of rain this evening. 1 to 2 mile visibility from the east bay. looking outside you can see the wet pavement out here. san francisco in the 50s. 5
