sunshine state. in the state of florida, i remember those smoggy days in the late 1960's and early 1970's and watched the impact of the clean air act make it healthier for us to breathe, to grow up, to live healthy lives. and all you have to do is look across the globe at china and india and the struggles they have with their economy because they're not able to control their pollution. the great thing about the clean air act is that it's based on science. it requires the e.p.a. every five years to bring scientists together and do a health check, do a check on the air quality standards all across america. then, they can -- they're not required to -- they can say we're going to improve the air quality standards and then they leave it up to states and stakeholders at home to determine how best to control air pollution. it has been extraordinarily effective at cleaning the air. e.p.a. has set air quality standards for six different pollutants -- o's, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, lead and particulate matter and between 1980 and 2014, emissions of the six pollutants dropped by 63%. during the same per

the sunshine state's governor, rick scott, already declaring a state of emergency in over half of florida's janice dean, the weather machine. this is serious. how bad? >> they haven't had a tropical storm hit florida since 2013. haven't had a hurricane in over ten years. so, this is a big deal. tropical storm colin. we think making landfall this evening. the center of circulation is off from the main sealed of -- main shield of rainfall and wind. so much of the state of florida is feeling the effects even though the storm won't be making landfall for several hours wimp don't have any watches but we have had several tornado warnings because these lan-falling tropical systems have already a spin to them. so we could potentially see tornadoes at any point over the next 12 to 24 hours, as the system crosses over. so severe threat this evening, talking about damaging winds, heavy rainfall, and tornadoes. you can see we have this elevated threat the evening, as the storm makes its way way across the sunshine state, and by this time tomorrow the worth should be over and out to sea. a quick mover,
