report from cochair supanich. >> thank you >> my apology. is there anymore public comment for item no. 3? my apology. >> hello, my name is keith dennis. councilmembers, i would like to say god bless you and god bless the city and county of san francisco. this has been a pet peeve of mine long when i worked as a caregiver. i was taking care of people in wheelchairs and people with disabilities. you know, it is really time that we check businesses that do not have door openers. at 1st of was like you have to let these things roll off your back. but then, it deflates you, it makes you feel less of a human when you have to ask someone or look around for some help instead of them having a door, things for people with disabilities. i believe i need to start putting companies on blast. i hate to do this because i am an all american boy, but the united states post office, the one on gary and steiner, needs a door opener. there is nothing that frustrates me more when i have a package that i need to deliver and there is a line of people there and then

cochair supanich? >> hi. thank you very much for your presentation. unfortunately i was unable to get to a real new bart car, but this presentation really made it clear to me what the challenges have been and continue to be. and i just had a few questions about the design. are the cars the same size as the old bart cars, the dimensions inside and outside? >> the outside dimensions are almost exactly the same. on the inside, we did lose some space. if you look at the figure on page 10, you will see some shaded areas at the very ends of the car. not the cab so much as the other, the non-cab and all the cars. in that shaded space is a safety buffer zone that is in response to emerging safety standards. that's for crash safety. the ends at that shaded space is meant to be a collapsible section of the car that protects the passenger compartment. as a result you can see we lost almost a whole row of seats on each end. we did design the seats to be more space efficient to cover the row we lost. that is one different in terms of the interior dimensions of the

so, in looking over some of the goals, co-chair supanich, i'm seeing that there's different categories we can use to prioritize which ones are the most important. one of the ones that popped out initially was number 10 the city pursue development and maintenance of a single accessible and affordable housing portal. that to me touches on information access, and that is one of the biggest key issues that is preventing a lot of our community from being able to access and go forward with pursuing housing. and, so, that is probably one of the major goal to pursue and being one i believe could be pursued. other ones are disability specific. still are important as far as trying to categorize and prioritize these such as that one, pops out as being crucial. >> others? well, i have one. i -- you know, it's a bugaboo about the whole thing, the feuding. ~ funding. and we're seeing federal sources of housing funding decline rather -- well, regularly. and, so, i would like to see some activity around creative sources of funding for affordable and accessible housing that might include -- and that ex
