kron4's alecia reid is live at sutter and sansome streets. she spoke with witnesses but we begin with kron4's spencer blake live on market at sutter.with the latest. spencer? >> reporter:this crash looks so bad, is amazing only three people were hurt. but all three of them ended up at the hospital. two of them work on this corner everyday. rush hour began early as traffic came to a complete stop at sutter and sansome. a yellow taxi cab drove up onto the curb, and plowed into a newstand restroom, a shoe shine stand, and another vendor's tent on the sharp corner where sutter meets market street. yellow tape has closed off the intersection since 3:30, and crowds of people stop to ask questions and take pictures. "we don't have any information at this time on the cause of the collision. that will be under investigation." the driver of the cab and two men who work a the shoe shine stand, were badly hurt. they're all in the hospital. two of them are in fair condition, and one is in critical condition. people walking by all seem especially concerned

according to the lake county news, patients were transferred to sutter lakeside hospital 28 miles away. one lower lake resident got creative to stay safe from the fire. he used water from his pool to put out hot spots on his property before firefighters got to his neighborhood. he and his son even took shelter in the pool for a while to avoid the oncoming flames. how long were you in the pool? >> just about 20, 15 minute ors so. it got intense, smoke and fire and sparks just blowing for a while here. >> the fire burned several businesses in the downtown area of lower lake. a sandwich shop, a winery and a habitat for humanity office are all destroyed. teams of bay area firefighters are headed to lake county to help battle the clayton fire, and that has an impact at the fire scene and here locally. abc 7 news reporter matt kel ar is live in los gatos with that part of the story. matt? >> reporter: kristin, this is the fifth strike team deployed this summer. it's a tough job for those who go and it's very demanding for those who stay behind. work goes on for santa clara county firefighter
