suzanne collins has more, it happened as a huge crowd was assembling a block away. >> reporter: the fire started to burn as hundreds were passing by for a festival. this was on maryland avenue and luckily, no one was injured including tenants and clerks who worked below. >> reporter: in the shadow maryland state house, a fire breaks out and a clerk realizes it's not something to ignore. >> someone said, there's smoke on the street. he went and grabbed the extinguisher and sprayed in between the two buildings. the firefighters are concerned because of the void between the two structures. >> when the fire gets there, you can't see it until it burns through and with the structures, it will be several buildings long. >> a woman is brought to tears and another woman comforts her. >> the historic district is so beautiful and when a fire happens, it's so tragic. >> reporter: a similar fire took place several years ago and it's in a void space and that ruined buildings and the firefighters were concerned about this one and they got it under control quickly. back to you on tv hill. >>> thank you,
