meteorologist mark tamayo is here. >> temperatures are dropping down into the lower 30s. some light showers showing up offshore. we will remain dry for tonight and also cold and here's a look at some current numbers. livermore pretty much at 40 degrees. here's the plan tonight for your bay area forecast, more clouds and temperatures on the cool side. we showed you a little bit of activity offshore. the weekend will be a dry pattern. the first thing tomorrow morning, overnight lows in the 40s. san jose in the mid-30s at 35 degrees. a lot of activity in the mid- pacific. a lot of this energy is splitting and this will not be a significant storm for the bay area but will impact our forecast for tomorrow. northbay showers and a chance elsewhere. the rainfall expectations are only a few hundredths of an inch. i would be surprised if we pick up a quarter of an inch. at least for tomorrow morning here is our rainfall forecast model. the highest chance in the northbay. not a lot by late morning into the afternoon hours. by late afternoon rebound of the shower chances once again e

mark tamayo tell us where the heaviest fog will be. >> meteorologist mark tamayo is here to talk about the fog. it stuck around late today and tomorrow what are we expecting? >> pretty much the same story. the blog is still a big part of our forecast tonight and will continue to expand. right now central valley fog is seeping into the region and we have a batch of coastal fog is well pushing into the bay. that will be a big part of our forecast for tonight. the dense fog advisory begins at 11:00 tonight. visibility could be approaching zero the first thing tomorrow morning. for tonight we have dense fog that returns tomorrow and hazy sunshine into the afternoon hours. no rain clouds on the five-day forecast. the clouds are up to our north. high pressure, a combination with a weak offshore flow converging on the bay area. that spells are fog forecast for tomorrow morning. wednesday there is a cold fronts that will move in that will lift the inversion and kind of traps the fog. with that we will scale back on some of the fall coverage as we head into wednesday but still somewhat of a fac

chief meteorologist bill martin is off tonight, mark tamayo is in so mark how is it looking somewheretom once again we're going to replay the warm temperatures, -- is it looking? mark >> tomorrow morning at 7:00, we're showing you quite a few 40s out there, right around 50 degrees we'll put this forecast model into motion. you will start to see the numbers move around before lunchtime. the eventual temperature will be upper 50s to low 60s. high pressure still in command of our weather once again here's a satellite showing you high clouds moveing in from the north. with this system in place, going to generate those offshore winds as a result we're expecting breezy conditions in the hills but once again, temperatures warming up. so sunny and warm for tomorrow. those readings 50 to 70 degrees. we could have winds gusting from 75 to 80 miles per hour. 6:00 did a nice job in showing you nice clouds. but watch what happened, just partly cloudy conditions. tomorrow morning we could have a patch or two of fog out there but nothing too extensive to talk, the fog will be targeting the north bay

our meteorologist mark tamayo will tell us which places can expect fog. >>> a windchill warning is in place right now in parts of new england as an arctic blast from canada causes temperatures to drop. while these kids in new york city are making the best of their situation, the windchill warning will be in place until 10:00 tomorrow morning. just one month into winter, may skwhror major cities up and down the east coast have already become slammed with more snow than they get all season. >>> the bay area dealing with the opposite extreme. at least our main concern over the next few hours in the short term will be some patchy dense fog. right now developing primarily to the east notice closer to mer c ed and modesto. that coupled with an offshore flow that will help import some of the fog a bit closer. it will be a factor first thing tomorrow morning and could impact your visibilities. as far as temperatures for today, another very warm afternoon. you can see the 70s showing up in santa rosa, oakland up 72 was tieing a record and most areas about eight to 13 degrees up above the avera

let's go now to our meteorologist mark tamayo who's in for our chief meteorologist bill martin. >> tomorrowemperatures a few neighborhoods once again hoovering right around at 70 degrees mark. those high clouds moving in to the north, you can see right on the satellite with at least partly cloudy skies that thin vail of high clouds moving into the region. but not producing any rain drops overnight tonight we could have patchy fog reform especially right around the delta. nothing showing up just yet. we could have a few patches developing late tonight. and you can see all the 60s showing up. temperatures on average eight to 10 degrees warmer than average. you can see san jose 68 degrees, fairfield 64. your weather store, your forecast is this for tonight, we're expecting partly cloudy sky. still in the warm side, dry weather pattern will stick around. here's what's happening in the satellite, high pressure is strengthening, we still have high clouds moving in. now with this system in place you will notice some more winds in the bay area hills especially up above 1,500. up above 2,000 feet. w

. >>> and coming up next, meteorologist mark tamayo will have the complete bay area forecast. >>> folks in some parts of the southeast are trying to recover after snow blanketed the area. snow and ice caused problems for drivers in and around georgia. interstate20 in fact, was closed for six hours. temperatures were only slightly above freezing today and there was little melting of the snow. there was also snow in tennessee and south carolina. >>> just a few light showers across parts of the bay area for today. at least right now we still have lingering clouds and also still possibly a few pop up showers. a will the of snow reaching the ground but we could have a lot of activity in the south bay. you can see a little bit of action closer to us. santa cruz and right around livermore. forecast for tonight is this of course. we're going to find out to mostly cloudy skies and a few showers. probably just in the form of a few sprinkles. for tomorrow, partly to cloudy skies. and friday and saturday a dry pattern and a little bit of a change as we head into the second part of the weekend. next

mark tamayo is working on your complete bay area forecast and will have it for us next.u, channel 2 news at 6. frank somerville, julie haener, week nights on ktvu, channel 2 news at 6. ororr li irore . >> well, the cool refrigerated air continues to impact the bay area. the overall weather story for the passed few days. we will start out with low clouds and fog. right now on the maps i can show you this on live stormtracker 22. no storms out. there the storms would actually warm us up over the next few days. and that will happen. the fog in the central valley is pushing close to the bay area with that weak offshore area. that is into oakland and san francisco. still a big part of our forecast for tonight. tonight for the bay area forecast fog and chilly. as we do head into sunday skies becoming partly sunny during the afternoon hours. the extended forecast and rain will be returning. multiple rain chances in the five day forecast. for tomorrow morning, forecasted lows on the cool side once again. we are talking about low 30s for santa rosa, napa. san francisco is at 42.

[ music ] >> bay area temperatures soared nicely today. in fact, one neighborhood topped out right around 70 degrees. show you that coming up in a little bit. but the fog right now is forming in the central valley. it will impact our forecast as we do head into your sunday morning. on live stormtracker ii you can see the low cloud cover. around the delta you can pick out closer to antioch and right around fairfield as well. visibilities have been coming down to less than a quarter of a mile. as far as highs from today the temperature range from 49 degrees with that persistent fog bank out towards fairfeel. but look at santa rosa topped out at 70 degrees. oakland and san francisco and also san jose. a look at the overall weather story for the bay area. fog will continue to develop. some areas of dense fog. mild conditions into the afternoon. the extended forecast a dry weather pattern. as far as the fog advisory, it i

ktvu's meteorologist mark tamayo in the weather center with the latest. >> we're expecting rainfall totals between to the 25" and .75th. san francisco just over .33th and in oakland, nearly .5" of rainfall. concord, .5" and san josi .64th. rainfall has moved out of the bay area and it's down towards southern california. there is not a lot showing up on the radar, so for tonight fog developing and the extended forecast another dry weather pattern developing. coming up, we still have lingering moisture and with that fog forming first thing tomorrow morning, two areas where we could experience dense fog first thing tomorrow morning. >>> a swarm of minor earthquakes in the east bay rattled people out of bed. the first a magnitude 3.2 struck at about 3:13 this morning. a 2.2 quake rumbled through the area five minutes later and then at 3:29 a.m., another 3.2 quake. in total, five small earthquakes rattled the area from 3:00 this morning until 2:30 in the afternoon. >>> barely three weeks into office and governor jerry brown is set to deliver his state. the state address. the one thing you can e

and for a look at where the rain is right now across the bay area let's turn to meteorologist mark tamayo in the weather center. >> hey, there, tracking some light to moderate rain across parts of the by area. right now on the maps i can show you live stormtracker 2. there is the current sweep showing you the current rainfall pattern. move the maps to the south. as you can see in the south bay some more significant rainfall. all of this activity to the most east of morgan hill. this was at least a moderate rain producer. even heavy rain producer half an hour to an hour ago. you can see it shooting out to the east. move the maps up and still see some coverage up towards san raphael. even towards san francisco and oakland we do have some more moderate cells. the darker shades of green do correspond to at least moderate cells of rainfall pushing through the region. on the satellite you can see the circulation moving in from the north. on the left portion of your screen that will be a big player for tomorrow as we head into sunday. with that we will be talking about dropping snow levels once
