alert meteorologist tammie souza. when is this expected to begin? >> it's going to roll out over the next three days. you'll need to pay attention to what area you live in for the impacts. we have a first alert for this major coastal storm. this is a big boy and it's for the entire area. we'll have different effects in different neighborhoods. this is from friday morning at 5:00 in the morning through stay at 10:00 in the morning. we'll start to see the rain and some of the wind moving in tomorrow night. the biggest threats to be the 50 to 60-mile-an-hour wind gusts across the entire area. major coastal flooding is possible, and periods of heavy rain. what's not on here is perhaps a half a foot or more of snow in the poconos. let's take a look at the storm. it's making its way now out of the southern plains and into the tennessee valley. it's going to lift across our area and it's actually going to strengthen off the coast. it's going to become one of those bomb cyclones and park there long enough to bring us conditions pretty rough across the area.

nbc 10 first alert meteorologist tammie souza tracking the big record breakers. she's out on our patio there. tammie? >> i'm out here on the plaza. i'm wondering why we aren't out here every time it's nice. it feels like may, not february. this is such a comfortable day. even in the places that had all that heavy snow, that is long gone and some places in the lehigh valley hitting the 80s today. this is remarkable. we should be in the mid-40s. we're anything but that. take a look at the current temperatures. pottstown, 75. lancaster and reading and allentown in the 80s last hour have dipped just one degree into the upper 70s. even wildwood at 73. dover, 76. you have to literally be sitting right on the water, standing in the water, if you actually want to be on the cool side. that's about it. take a look at all the records. 72 in philadelphia. we shattered that. 77 degrees was our high. so far today. if you look at the right-hand column, they all have those dots on them because they are all brand-new record for allentown, reading, trenton, atlantic city. let's rol

track all of this, let's bring in nbc 10 first alert chief meteorologist tammy souza. tammy? >> you thought the snow might be gone. h hey, it's still february. it's not over yet. we have the rain moving through the area now. brief heavy downpours are going to be heading to the area over the next couple hour. this is going to scoot on out of here. let's take a closer look, from philadelphia off into the pennsylvania suburbs, we're looking at the most steady rainfall at this point. so from westwhechester to philadelphia to chester, abington, a break for you. we see heavier showers in warrington. pottstown, you're getting a break as well. all this will head off to the east over the next couple of hours. see it breaking up already over the western part of the state. now we're going to start to focus out to the western united states. two systems are going to come together. one that's drifting out of canada with very cold air. another one with all the energy and the moisture coming out of the southwest and also out of northern mexico. they come together and they head our direction.

let's get to tammie souza, how much rain are we talking about? >> some areas may see localized flooding. we started off chilly. 17 in reading. 18 in atlantic city, and everybody except the poconos, wilmington at 36. pot ts town at 33. this is the trend for tonight, everybody will stay above freezing, we're not going to worry about that. that is going to mean in the area. we had a system move by bringing light snow to the lehigh valley. smarts of mississippi, alabama, and georgia. that will make it's way into the area. here is your neighborhood forecast for tomorrow. the rain doesn't start until tomorrow afternoon. so you will be about 40 in philadelphia. if you're in thely high valley you will be 39, 42 in new jersey. we're not going to see cloud cover and heavy rain starting in the afternoon, that will continue all of the way through sunday. we'll talk about the rainfall totals and who will get the most of it when i come back in a few minutes. >> we'll be tracking the rain all weekend long. when the wet weather will arrive and move out of your n

chief meteorologist tammie souza is here to time this all out for us. >> it's going to be a mess tomorrow morning. unless you live in southern delaware or the jersey shore, you have to be prepared for anything. here's our first alert. mainly for the snow and ice, when i say ice i mean freezing rain. we're looking at the suburbs into the lehigh valley. 4:00 tomorrow morning through 3:00 tomorrow afternoon. 2 to 4 inches of snow sleet and ice could fall there pu off to the norts and west, we could see more than 6 inches of floodplain plain old snow. we'll see the snow-covered roads for all of you in this area. let's bring it home to philadelphia. from 4:00 tomorrow morning through 10:0

tammie souza is tracking the forecast for your neighborhood. some spotty showers in the pennsylvania suburbs. and all of this is going to start to transition across philadelphia and south jersey in the next couple hours. you can see the heaviest showers from the polk knows down through allentown and reading. not quite philadelphia yet. but there's a whole lot more in the pipeline just off to the south and the west of us. you can see some of it already transitionsing into a rain and snow mix. even a little bit of snow. now as temperatures drop, we're going to see that happen here. right now, we're in the 40s with the south wind. this is going to be all rain until after midnight. then we'll see a in the valley. watch these numbers as they start to drop. 38 in philly. 34 in allentown. 39 in morris river. very quickly by 5:00 in the morning, we're down just above freezing in philadelphia. so a wet, heavy snow is very possible. and the temperatures still are in those above freezing marks across south jersey. it's already fallen below freezing in all

. >> let's get to nbc 10 first alert meteorologist tammie souza. when is this expected to begin?next three days. you'll need to pay attention to what area you live in for the impacts. we have a first alert for this major coastal storm. this is a big boy and it's for the entire area. we'll have different effects in different neighborhoods. this is from friday morning at 5:00 in the morning through stay at 10:00 in the morning. we'll start to see the rain and some of the wind moving in tomorrow night. the biggest threats to be the 50 to 60-mile-an-hour wind gusts across the entire area. major coastal flooding is possible, and periods of heavy rain. what's not on here is perhaps a half a foot or more of snow in the poconos. let's take a look at the storm. it's making its way now out of the southern plains and into the tennessee valley. it's going to lift across our area and it's actually going to strengthen off the coast. it's going to become one of those bomb cyclones and park there long enough to bring us conditions pretty rough across the area. let's watch the track of it. here i
