tara moriarty just arrived on the scene. >> reporter: we learned that this construction worker actually has some pretty traumatic injuries. exactly what extent those are, we are not sure yet. can you see that there are crews with him right now pretty much in the middle of this cliff. is just below coit tower. they are getting ready to hoist him. to bring him down would not be logistically possible. joining me live is the public information officer for the san francisco fire department. this is jonathan baxter. step on in here. you can just tell us exactly what's going on? are they treating him medically right now and trying to figure out the best way to get him out that have situation? >> first of all, what we're looking at right here is the right side of the hillside. this is what they were working on. this is what the workers were working on. they are screening up the hillside to make sure that all of the rocks and the debris and so forth don't fall down. on the left side where the worker was at, that's what they were doing. he did become detached from his safety gear and fell 50 feet

but, tara setmayer, you are an opponent of donald trump.t donald trump to lose but do you support these movements? >> look, i'm horrified by the fact that donald trump is our nominee. yes, he won the process but he only won 41%, 42% of the primary votes. 50% of the republicans did not support him. in virginia, again, he only won 35% but he gets all the delegates. as much as i would like to see delegates be unbound, which they can be, technically right now they're all unbound. they can go to the convention and the convention rules committee can determine that delegates can vote their conscience. i mean, and this is something that, you know, edmund burke talked about. he said the duty of a representative is above all to vote their conscience on things. and there are a lot of people who are concerned and rightfully so. would i like to see someone else other than donald trump be our nominee? of course i would. but i don't know how likely this effort is. i appreciate them standing on principle, but i think there are enough people unfortunately t

new york times national reporter, and tara daldel. tar, with i'll start with you.losing ground 12 points in particular among voters without a college degree. she's losing white voters without a college degree by 38 points. how can she make some gains here? >> well, for one thing, she needs to expose donald trump, which she started to do. you look at donald trump and who he's been taking advantage of. it's small business owners, contractors that worked on his casinos in atlantic city. small contractors have gone bankrupt because he did not pay them. she needs to run ads with people who look like the people whose support she does not have and showing the impact behaof what did to them. she needs to expose that. second, she needs to explain her policies in clear, concrete terms in how they're going to lift those people up and connect it to the things she's done in the past, which many people have forgotten that have helped those very people. >> this is what vice president biden said this week on msnbc about democrats and working class voters. take a listen. >> have de

tara? i'm not sold on pence -- >> you're not sold on donald trump. >> we already know about how i feel about donald trump. that's not news -- but anyway, look. i don't know that -- look, pence is a solid conservative, that he is, and he is an evangelical. that's important and donald trump has made it clear that he doesn't care about party unity. he said he wants to reach across and get new voters. i don't know what mike pence fits in with that and if he's a messenger that will attract the middle of the road voters because he is so conservative and i personally like mike pence and i don't know that he brings the gravitas to the ticket that someone like newt gingrich would particularly in a debate format. he has to consider the vice presidential debate and who was going to be able to go up against whoever hillary clinton picks and i don't think that will be mike pence. newt gingrich is a skilled debater and he's skilled on issues and topics and he can spin the nonsense that trump will get him

ktvu's tara moriarty joining us live outside our bureau at the hall of justice.a, let's talk about the new report that's giving some insight into san francisco's jail population. >> reporter: yeah. you know what? this is interesting, mike, because normally we aren't privy to these sort of statistics. interesting to see the breakdown. numbers. something that may not come as a shock to people who live in san francisco a the fact that the city spends millions of dollars on jail health service including methadone treatment, hiv testing and dental care. last year 15,000 patients received services. 36% of those were for mental health services. now, a quick breakdown shows there is an average of 1250 inmates on any given day. 65% of them staying for less than seven days. and nearly a third of inmates are homeless. 78% of men. 36% black. 34% white. 16% latino. so all of this information has got jail advocates talking about how those jails need to receive insurance benefits because most of them don't even receive treatment until they actually get to jail. >> at city hall,
